Booking for New Year's?

How would I go about booking for New Year's next year? Is it a day by day at your home resort's 11 month window thing? How hard is it to book a 2BR for New Year's?

You should definetly call day-by-day at your home resort for any time Christmas Week and New Year's. New Year's Eve is the most difficult night to get anywhere.

At the 7-month mark you can try and make a switch but it will probably involve wait listing on a day-by-day basis, too.

We had no problem getting OKW for 12/28-1/02 this year and the same time last year at 11 month(actually less than 11 months). I have never called day-by-day since I joined in1994 for any DVC resort even at peak time(Summer at BCV, BWV and HHI@ 7months; HHI in April and christmas @ 7 months). I know that BWV folks do it all the time to get a standard because there are so few. I just can't see wasting all that time (mine and MS's time uneccessarily). I know alot of folks disagree, but just my experience and philosophy.

For this coming New Years, I called day by day to get a 1-br standard view at BWV and had no problem.
For last New Years, I called day by day to get a studio standard view at BWV, and couldn't get it even though I called at 9am 11 months out - had to get preferred view.

I called day by day first thing in the AM to book my NYE week stay coming up. I was going for a standard 2BR at BWV. I got everything except for NYE. Had to take a preferred and go on the waitlist for a standard. Still waiting!

For last year, I also called day by day for a standard studio for that same week. Had to waitlist for Dec. 30 and 31. Luckily, both nights came through. Hope I'm as lucky this year!

That's what I'm afraid of! Because of weekends, on a Monday morning I'll need to secure a room for December 30, 31 & January 1. Maybe I should just try for preferred and forget about standard?

If you want standard, ask for it. If they haven't got it then say you'll take preferred.

If they dates are book I usually just put myself on the wait list this way I don't have to call everyday and they call when there is an opening.
