Ugh! I just had to vent! I went online to book a moderate resort for my Feb 5-7th visit. We are annual passholders, so I went to the AP page on Disney's website to book our room. They gave me a regular rack rate for the room. I knew this wasn't right, so I called. Of course it takes 15 minutes to get past all the automated voice prompts. (That's a whole other problem in itself...why should I have to give them my phone #, zip, street, name, how many times I've visited, and other info via the voice prompts and then when I actually get to talk to a CM, he asks me all the same info!
)
Anyway, I tell him I want an AP rate for a moderate resort...he tells me that it is $159/nt. I told him, "No, that's the regular rack rate. It doesn't make sense." Then he says, "Well that's peak season." I said, "No, I'm looking at the rack rate on wdwinfo.com
thumbsup2) and peak season doesn't start until Feb 11th. The rack rate for that weekend is $159." He says, "Oh yeah, you're right."
So then I say, "How about if I give you the code for AP rates, QIJ?" Lo and behold, the rate came up as $116/nt! I said that AP rate is an AP rate, so why does the code make a difference. He said it must be a different kind of AP rate. Whatever...
So after awhile on the phone with him, I ended up getting the rate I wanted. It's a good thing that I called, too because they would have lost my hotel business for that weekend. I wish that they could make their reservation process easier! So heads up, always try to use the code instead of "FL Res Rate" or "AP Rate" or "General Public Discount". Obviously it makes a difference!!!
