Does anyone ever book a one way flight with one airline and another one way flight with another airline, instead of round trip flight with the same airline?

I have in the past...this trip my DH/1 son are flying on United and Other son and myself are flying on USAirways to take advantage of Frequent flyer points. www.itasoftware.com will tell you what flight is the cheapest even if it means multi carriers. Good luck.

We did that back in Feb. '05. SWA San Antonio to Orlando, American Orlando to SA. Worked fine. It was cheaper that way.

Sure. Last time I went to Orlando, I flew down on Jet Blue and back on Song. Cheapest option for when I wanted to go.

I did that a couple of months ago.

Flew NWA from Detroit to Vegas
Flew SWA from Vegas to John Wayne in SoCal
Flew NWA from SNA to DTW

NO problems or additional screening for me!

Hi Michboro,

We did this a few times with no problems.

I was a bit nervous, since people on the boards warned us, that we would be searched, & subject to extra security because of this. Actually, nobody, in the airport, opened a suitcase, & we walked right thru security, though, we waited in the long.......line to get thru security in MCO.

We are going Presidents Week 2006 for a 7 days. I booked AA down & Sprit back.

Hope this helps

Patricia

PS Did you find a good fair for Nov yet? Merry Christmas

We too just did this in last week. Not a problem at all, and no extra security for us either.

We did SWA down and Airtran back. I wanted a late flight out of MCO and SWA latest was 4 pm while Airtran had a 8:30 pm. I wouldn't hesitate to do this again to get the cheapest fare/most desirable times.

Hi PURTYPAT1

I am still working on finding flights for November. I am hoping Jet Blue's rates will be good when it is released. But it is good to know that if I need to book 2 different airlines, that it would work.

I am also going in Nov. (I am actually going 2 times)
I just booked teachers week, got a great price last week.
Now I am trying to get a flight for Thanksgiving Nov 2006 It pays to shop & book early, but it really makes me crazy searching & looking.

What are your dates in Nov that you are looking for? Are you flying out of Newark, or New York?

We want to fly out of Newark early morning on Sunday, Nov.5 (we are leaving for cruise that day) and fly back on Sunday, Nov. 12 (not too early in morning or too late at night; maybe between 11 and 3). Continental's rates seem kind of high right now, for those times.

Flying down Fri on US Air because Spirit wanted more than 3 x the cost of flight down because it was Christmas week. Coming back after New Years on Spirit because they had a good rate.

Keeping our fingers crossed that we have no problems.

Michboro, you might want to consider driving 45 minutes up to northern jersey & leaving your car, then take a taxi for an additional 75.00 to lga airport. Or better yet, drive to lga airport & leave your car in long term parking. I live about 5 minutes from the George Washington Bridge. LGA is about 25 minutes from my house. Where do you live in South Jersey?
