I can now book flights thru SWA for our trip & am deciding between flying into LAX or SNA. I would prefer SNA but it is more expensive ($400 more total). How far are each of them from DL? Also would we have traffic issues?
We would get in on a Tues afternoon (3 pm) & leave Sun morning.

LAX is a much bigger airport and is definately further away from DL than SNA but there is transportation to DL from both. You'll notice the most difference between the airports on your departure (return to home).

As for traffic, it depends a great deal on when you'll be on the road. Coming from the airport to DL from either airport, you'll experience heavier traffic beginning by 3:00 pm through about 6:00 pm. For your return to the airport, you'll see traffic more in the morning hours starting around 7:00 am through about 9:30 am.

If you're flights put you on the road outside of those windows then you won't have much of a problem from either airport and LAX will only add about 20 minutes. Traffic around LAX during those times though will substantially increase your travel time (by about 45 minutes).

I'm sure others will share their thoughts and experiences.

My personal preference is to save the money and use LAX.

Here is a good tip though. Look at Long Beach airport. That can *SOMETIMES* be cheaper and that airport is small, easy to get in and out of, and is much closer to DL than LAX.

Sunday in general is an expensive day to fly. I've usually found it more cost effective to stay another night and leave Monday (of course your job may impact ability to do this.)

Maybe you should save $400 fly in to LAX and use you saving to rent a limo. But if the savings were much less I would take the simplicity and quickness of SNA.

Tues I would not expect to get to DLR quickly. Traffic will be a big factor. Sunday should be fine traffic wise.

Do consider what Smile4stamps said and take a look at Monday also.

I agree try looking into flying into Long Beach. I just booked a flight and tickets were only 69 each way. I love that airport too, it is so easy to get in and out of.

We booked through SWA and went with LAX. It was sooo much cheaper for us. We will use the extra money for spending money.

Well, there's no question anymore! Thanks for all your advice, but SWA just lowered the price for flying into SNA! Now it's only $40 more total than LAX & that doesn't bother me. So I booked it!
I am assuming we can just take the super shuttle.

Before they extended their schedule and put flights onsale I was planning on using SNA instead of LAX because they were showing $149 OW and LAX was showing $169 OW.

However, SW put LAX on sale for $104 and SNA has stayed the same $149. There are 7 of us so it would be a difference of $630. For that much we are going with LAX.

As much as I would like the closer airport, it isn't worth $630.

We're planning a short-notice trip for the end of June, and while we normally fly into SNA, this time the cheapest RT is $500 more (total) than LAX.

Needless to say, we're flying into LAX. The flights are off-peak traffic times anyhow, and SuperShuttle uses the HOV lane so it won't be too bad.

The funniest thing is when I went to book our flights with our TA for our Sept trip to the mouse, and using our Fav airline Westjet, it was cheaper to fly into SNA than LAX, so that's why we booked our flights into SNA. Westjet just started to fly direct into SNA this month. So am looking forward to flying into SNA instead of LAX.

Yeah, when we bought our tickets for September, it was cheaper to fly into SNA. I probably would have anyways. It's way closer and I just like getting there as soon as possible.
