Hey there, I wanted to get my flights booked for our upcoming trip in October so we have the travel times we really want. It's me, wife, 3 yr old daughter and a newborn (yet to be born)
My wife is due in June, so can I book my flight threw Airtran without the information of my 2nd daughter (no date/birth) and then just add it later?

Didn't know if anyone else dealt with this before.

I have done this with Delta in 2010!

My DD was born in July and we wanted to book our September trip for 4 in April. I ended up calling Delta - they had me book the trip as Baby LASTNAME and use the due date as the birthday. (I really wanted a seat for the baby, I dont do lap babies on airplanes)

According to Delta and TSA, I had 2 options when she was born...

- If I didnt care if she got frequent flyer miles, I could have left the name as is on the ticket as there is no ID provided for infants at TSA.

- Since I did want her to acrue FF miles, I had worked with Delta at the time that the ticket was purchased ot include a note in the record that this was for an unborn child and that upon her arrival, I wanted special dispensation to change the name on the ticket. This required a managers approval because name changes are not allowed, but it was still done very easily and without much hassle....

Good Luck, Congratulations on your new baby, and have a great time!

If your flying w/ a lap child just book the reservation and call them to make them aware that your going to be flying with a lap child. Once the baby is born, call them to add the name and date of birth.

We did this in 2007 w/ my niece. Booked November tickets in January, niece was born in April

We did this with jetblue before our youngest was born (he's 5 now, so things may have changed).

I called jetblue to make the reservations and asked how to go about purchasing a seat for my baby who was not born yet. They suggested we put "Baby" as the first name and I could change it on our reservation after the baby was born. We also had to choose "Mr" or "Ms", so we went with Mr even though we didn't know the baby's gender. So, his ticket said "Mr. Baby Ourlastname."

When he was born, I called and they changed "Baby" to his real name, although our family called him Mr Baby for a long time after that.

Thank you all. I did contact airline and they said since we will be lapping the newborn, we can book now and then just add infant after she is born.
