Booking Fastpasses for a backup Resort Stay

I have a 10 night onsite stay booked for June, and I have 11 days of fastpasses booked. I am considering making a backup plan for July, and the fastpass booking window is coming up soon. I don't want to cancel June yet because the parks could still open in June, but since the July fastpass window is opening soon, I would like to be able to book July fastpasses, in case they announce in mid-May that the parks are closed in June and at that point, it is too late to make decent fastpass selections.

Today, a CM told me that no one can ever book more than 10 days of fastpasses at a time (which I know is wrong because I already have 11 days of fastpasses booked- I pointed that out and she told me it was a system glitch)- it doesn't matter if you have two resort stays. She said I will not be able to book July fastpasses as long as I have June fastpasses still in my account- even if I have onsite resort stays for both months.

Is that correct, or is she wrong about that, also? Those of you who have backup plans- have you been able to book fastpasses with two different resort reservations? Or did you have to cancel your first set of fastpasses to get your second?

This would normally never come up because I would not normally make an entire vacation backup plan, but with Disney's failure to provide real info about park opening, there is no way for us to know what to do.

Hopefully we will actually get some real info by Monday, but it is possible that we don't, and many of us are left guessing what to do with no information.

You would need enough valid ticket media to cover all potential park days in order to book FP+ for both trips. What kind of tickets do you have and are they part of a resort package?

We have annual passes. Which further complicates things. There are more limitations on fastpasses for APs than for regular tickets (even though they are out of state, full-price, no-limit platinum passes). That is why I called the CM. I have twice before run into the issue of having close trips (end of February and first of April) with an AP, and when I called, the CM was able to book my fastpasses online for my second trip, even though the system would not let me book them because of the 30 day issues with annual passes.

I didn't mention the APs because my question was about regular tickets. The CM told me that, even if I had 10 day tickets with an onsite stay one month and another set of 10 day tickets with an onsite stay the next month, I could not book any fastpasses for the second trip. She insisted that NO ONE can ever hold more than 10 days of fastpasses at any given time.

I was wondering if there is a discrepancy between those with regular tickets and those with APs.

I know as an AP holder that I can't book July fastpasses when I already hold June fastpasses, even when I have two different onsite stays.

But I thought people with regular tickets could. I have never heard of this 10 day restriction on regular tickets.

The CM gave you incorrect information.

We have AP's and we always book our fastpasses at 60 days as long as we stay onsite(which we only do). There shouldn't be a limit on how many FP's you have as long as you are staying onsite.

You should have no problem.
Even when you have two separate trips within 45 days of each other?

I had two separate one week stays onsite this past February (with one week at home in between). I have an annual pass and I had FP booked at 60 days ahead for both trips without an issue. So as long as you are staying onsite and have your stays linked in MDE, you should be able to book.

Doesn’t matter how many trips or how close to each other. What matters is that all your FP days must be part of a stay at a Disney owned resort. Last year, I had trips in April, May, July, each one around 50 days from each one.

And you could get them all 60 days in advance? If so, then they’ve changed they’ve system in the last couple of years. And that’s a very welcome change.

Just my experience, but I have a trip May 21-28. 7 nights FastPasses booked. ( 7 day ticket)I have a backup trip June19-26. The system has allowed me to book 6 nights’ Fastpasses for this June trip. Don’t know why, maybe it knows May is not happening?? Who knows what kind of glitch, but just my experience.

I have had trips “too close to each other” and have had to call in to have a CM manually add fast passes for us. We also have APs and spend an average of ten days on property at a time. This issue has been intermittent and I cannot find any patterns (for example, the system will block me from making fastpasses, but will allow me to make them for my son who accompanied me).

I have a June and July trip booked (both 7 days) with an AP. I just made fastpasses for the June trip this week and will make fastpasses for the July trip next week. In theory, I shouldn't have any issues with this because I'm booked for both trips at Wilderness Lodge, but I guess we shall see...

I’m in the same boat, except made the June FPs a week or so ago. I make FPs for July on 5/3.

Thanks! I am glad to hear that they seem to have changed this policy for now. I will probably make my backup July trip soon so I can make fastpass selections. Still hoping June happens.

I'm in the exact same boat as you. I actually have 16 days booked in June (13-30) and was able to book fp for every single day of the trip, although we could only book for 14 days on our opening day and then each day after, the next day of our trip opened up to book. I also have a backup booked July 3-20. We are also APs. Hoping we don't run into any problems.

I knew the CM was wrong about the 10 day thing. Why don't they train CMs better on fastpass rules? That has been the topic I have seen them flub the most- and I have seen it frequently. One time my MDE was not working in the park and I asked a CM if she could help me figure out what was wrong because I couldn't book my 5th fastpass of the day. She told me that no one is ever allowed to have more than three in one day. :guilty: Luckily MDE cleared up soon after and I was able to get several more that day. How do they not know even the basics of how fastpasses work?

Isn't it frustrating that they haven't opened up passholder rates for July 10th and after? We are quickly approaching dates that we will need to book in July, and I would really like to book around July 6th to the 16th, but the passholder rate really does make a difference (around $150-200 difference total for the stay). Maybe I'll just do June 30th-July 10th. I am just hoping to get in a ten night Disney vacation before I have to go back to work, and it seems that the later we book, the better chance we have of the parks being open.

Yes! I've booked with the fun and sun discount, but keep checking every day to see if passholder discounts are available!

There was a problem last year in the Spring, when they closed the rolling windows and it did not open my second onsite stay, but that problem was fixed and I had no problems with multiple onsite stays afterwards (we visited in April, May, July, August and October - each stay was within 60 days). The problem was around for only a little while and then it was fixed.
