We wanted some feedback on experience with booking at one of the WDW DVC resorts (especially BW) when this is not your home resort. What are your chances of getting your first choice for say, 10 days in early-mid June when trying to book 7 months out? It will have an impact on where we buy.;)

Wecome to The Dis!!!
I am sure there are many here that can answer your question from a lot of experience, but I would imagine "where, and how big" would also be a factor for availability.
I would think "buy where you want to stay most" would be a resonable answer.
Good Luck!

Thanks. I think we would mostly be looking at a studio, at least for a few years. We've been seeing a lot of the "buy where you want to stay the most" comment. That means it would probably be in WDW.

If you want to stay in the Epcot resort area I would buy at either BWV or BCV so that you do have the 11 month window for booking. BWV you can get a little cheaper through a resale vs the going prices through Disney for BCV. I am a DVC member with my home resort at BWV and I go to WDW at least every 3-4 months. I own a home in Fl and I also often have to go to FL for business and I definitely do not have 11 months notice so I will admit it is often very difficult to get into BWV but sometimes if I can jiggle the days, the size of the villa and the view, I usually get lucky--but not always. I can tell you from experience BWV is tough to get into without the 11 mo window and especially if you want a studio standard view. I have also had to stay at OKW which is not my preference but now with VWL and BCV I am hoping the availabilty to stay in the DVC resorts I prefer will get easier. Bottom line to make life much easier and if you can book vacations at the 11 month window, definitely buy where you want to stay. Especially if you want to stay in the Epcot resort area DVC resorts.

My DH and I bought Vero Beach earlier this year due to the fact that he is a Dodger fan and we needed the 11 mo window during spring training for us to be able to stay there. Otherwise we would have bought at BCV to be near Epcott.

At this point in time, BWV remains the hardest resort to get at 7 months out. Not impossible, just more difficult. Summer months, other than July 4 week, have proven to be somewhat easier to get than other times of year. Also, be aware of the following: (a) lower point cost standard views (which are only about 20% of the rooms) are very diffcult to get without the 11 month ressie window; (b) studios tend to reserve in full before 1BR's which tend to reserve in full before 2BR's. If you really want to be assured of being able to stay at an Epcot resort (BCV or BWV) then I would recommend that you buy at the one you prefer.
