Booking DVC stays

Is anyone else having issues booking rooms at non-home resorts 7 months out.
It seems availability for rooms is getting more and more limited. We are usually looking for studios but find their inventory to be very tight. Any “suggestions” on how to get rooms, besides waitlisting would be appreciated... Thanks

Own where you want to stay. Otherwise, waitlisting and luck are the only answers.

7 months from around now is fall. Fall is a very busy season, and the ability to switch, especially for studios, will be limited. DVC is also selling a lot of small contracts, which will put pressure on the small units. But even in "not fall," it's getting harder.

7 month availability is not guaranteed by contract.

Well, if I had a secret method for getting whatever I wanted at the 7-month mark, do you think that I would blab it on the internet?

Unfortunately, I don't, which is why I own at AKV, BWV and VGF instead of SSR. If I loved SSR, it would be a different story but I have no burning desire to stay there on a regular basis. I have a feeling that it will only become more difficult to switch at 7 months when Riviera goes up for sale and CCV is sold out.

There's no secret. Well, there are less busy times to go where you can have some options to change resorts. Oct-Dec has been busy for several years and are only getting tighter as people are realizing they will most likely be staying at their home resorts and are making certain to book them in the home priority windows.

Welcome to the new DVC. For years I have been saying, buy where you love to stay, now you see why.

The only availability guaranteed by contract is if you have a fixed week contract. Even at 11 months, there's no guarantee. I saw a post the other day where someone said you were guaranteed your home resort at 11 months. Not true. I used the example if there are 100 rooms and 150 want them for a certain date, how can it be guaranteed.

Thanks to all for your inputst regarding my question sharing the previous thread to my inquiry. I guess the take away is being diligent on calendar dates regarding booking windows....
