So, I booked 4 days at the Poly for my niece and her family. She also rented points from another DVC member for 5 more days at the Poly. I went to book DME for her but was told Disney could not do it because their departure date is different than what my reservation indicated. Is this the norm when it comes to stays that involve multiple reservations and now what do we do ?

Your niece will need to have the other member add DME for their departure.

And yes, it's normal. You can only book DME for reservations made with your points. And you can only schedule DME for dates that are either on or between the check in and check out dates of that reservation.

If both reservations were under your account, it would be no problem with the split stay. I do them all the time.

It is because the 2nd reservation is under a different member and there is no way for MS to access that reservation for you as you are not the owner of the points.

But, it will be simple for the owner to do. The other option is that your niece can just get the return trip done at the resort, once she checks in for the 2nd stay.

She can also call DME herself with her reservation numbers and flight info. That's what I've done for my DVC rental stays and it's worked out just fine.
