Hi when everyone books disney resort accommodation, do you book it on disney website or over the phone? If you book online do you have to pay upfront or just a a deposit?

Also I want to do a split stay, so do I do two separate bookings?

I've booked through an American Disney specialist TA, as well as over the phone and also on-line via the website. I usually pay a deposit.

If you have a room-only reservation, you need to pay one night's deposit within 14 days of booking. I've normally paid this when I book on-line so I'm not sure (and can't remember) if they have the facility for you to come back to pay that one night's deposit within the 14 day period. I would expect so. It is definitely possible to wait the 14 days if you use a TA or if you call.

If you have take a package (room, tickets and/or dining plan), then you need to pay a deposit of $200 within 10 days of booking. The balance is due 45 days in advance, prior to your arrival.

If you do a split stay, you will need to make two separate bookings.

If you do two separate bookings you can link them both up in 'My Disney Experience'

I have done both online and over the phone directly through disney.

Yes you do need to make two separate bookings. I rented 2 sets of DVC points and linked them easily through MDE.

Just be aware that if free dining is offered for your travel period, you will also need to buy 2 packages which means 2 separate admission tickets. E.g Two 5-day tickets instead of one 10-day, This can make things more costly.

(At least that was how it was last year. Maybe things have changed?)

Booking online is very easy as you can go back and pay when you want. I have booked several times and once used flight centre but my travel agent worked out more expensive than booking direct. Im hanging out for free dining we got it last time we went and saved over $4000 for the 2 weeks. I have called and booked some cruises through disney was on the phone for a while but they are very helpful
