Booking Disney Resort, but with Longer Park Pass and DDP?

I am trying to book a stay at a disney resort for 3 night(Fri, Sat, Sun night), but then I am moving to an off site hotel to stay with some other family that is coming in. I am buying a 5day hopper/Water park pass, and I want to add the DDP to it. It appears that the price is only going up for 3 nights worth of the DDP, and not the full 5 days I want for it. Can you only get the dining experience for as long as you are staying at the resort?

It appears that it is only lasting as long as my stay at the Resort, but does that still work even though I have a longer Park Pass? If I dont use all the meals allocations in those 3 nights, will they continue to last until the card is expired (meaning if when I leave Monday at noon, and on tuesday when I come back to the park, can I then if I have any meals left use them then)?

The dining plan is tied to your resort stay, not your tickets. So if you're only staying 3 nights, you can only get 3 nights dining. They last until midnight of the day you check out. So if you check out Monday, you wouldn't be able to use them on Tuesday. The only way to have it for your entire trip would be to stay onsite your entire trip.

OK, that makes sense i guess... We are not getting in till 8pm or so on Friday, so wouldnt have time to get to eat at most places Friday night, but can still use all the stuff from Sat-Mon is good... Probably works out better this way anyway, so in case we get tired of the food or what not...
