Booking dinner show using DDP and not a CC?

Hi all-
I have the DDP for our upcoming stay. I booked the Spirit of Aloha dinner and was given the option of using our dining plan to reserve the ADR. However,my CC was still charged for the show! I tried it again and it did the same thing. Do I need to prepay even if I have the DDP, or is this some glitch? I tried to call WDW but all circuits busy today LOL...TIA!

I pre-paid our Hoop Dee Doo with a CC, then when we physically checked-in at our WDW resort, I visited the Concierge. I got a refund to my CC, and the dinner was then charged to my dining credits and our tickets were issued. The CC refund arrived very quickly.

You have to go through MDE and link your dining plan. There have been glitches, however, so it's possible that is what happened. If you don't want to pre-pay and the online system is being glitchy, you can call to make the reservation.

If you are willing to wait until you pick up your SoA Luau tickets you can have the charge credited and use your dining plan credits instead at that time.

If you want your credit card refunded immediately, you'll have to call and explain to the CM that you do NOT want to cancel the reservation, just change the method of payment. The CM will need to contact a supervisor to do this so it may take some time.

Thanks! I called and the CM was able to cancel and refund my CC. The CM made a new ressie using the DDP and I was able to link the ADR on MDE and see it while we were on the phone. I was told it should have worked through the web but sometimes it has issues...LOL. I'm all set!

Thanks for sharing your experience! I was able to resolve the issue and use the DDP by calling WDW. Hope to see the refund soon!

Has anyone booked a a category one table on a CC and then used DDP and paid the difference for the category upgrade? Will they do that? I would really like to keep cat 1 and the difference is worth it to me, but since we will have the DxDP would like to use it. Thanks!

You cannot do that. When using the dining plan you can only book Cat 1 for the 8:30 Hoop De Doo or Cat 2 or 3 for any showtime.

You will not be allowed to pay the difference on top of DDP credits, you can pay either by using credits or by using cash, but not both.
