Booking Dining Reservations

I've been successful in calling the standard DVC (800 *** ****) number and making ressies through them.

I've used the regular ADR line. I had no idea I could use MS

My calls have always been answered in a timely fashion, and I get helpful people. Is there a benefit to using MS (other than the 800 number; we have free long distance)?

I've used both without issue. I've seen a couple of post where people called MS and got a CSR that was not up to speed on the reservation system.

When I used MS for ADRs, I found it was a lot faster than calling WDW-DINE.

I totally agree! Especially after hearing wait times for folks making adrs including NYE at the 180 days this year. My experience with MS was less than 5 minute wait time.......got what I wanted and have always had great CM.

I never call MS for dining reservations, for a couple of reasons.

First of all, I don't want my dues money to be spent on making reservations for other Disney profit centers. I prefer to have Disney Dining pay for their own overhead.

Secondly, I've always had great service from Disney Dining. Never had a problem with waits except when we were calling at 7:00 AM to try to get Cindy's.

Third, I don't want to be tying MS up with dining stuff when some other member is desperately trying to get through to get a VACATION ressie they really want. They HAVE to speak to MS; I don't.

We've always had great service from MS but we prefer to let them do what they do best -- which is take care of US -- and let the Dining folks take care of what they do best.

I always call Disney Dining. I usually make my ADRs in the evening and MS is closed at that time. I've never waited very long or had it take very long to make the ADRs so the long distance charges were minimal. Now I have unlimited long distance so that's no longer even an issue.

Depending on the time of year I will use the 407 WDW Dine number especially during the Christmas season since they open up 1 hour before MS.

I've just begun to use MS for most dining reservations. I've had great service from them. Real pros. The same used to be true of WDW Dining but in the last few years I've had a few who've made errors or waste time with repeated "this is a nonsmoking restaurant, allow 1 hour travel times, admission is required" warnings. I know that info is important for newbies but when I'm making 20 or so dining reservations and tell them we have APs, I appreciate not having that info repeated.

Calling MS for dining is one of the perks of membership. I am paying for it and don't feel guilty about using the service....especially these days when some are taking up MS time day after day "walking" reservations.

I have used both. Keep in mind if you want an extremely difficult ADR (CRT, Le Cellier, etc.), WDW-Dine opens 3 hours earlier (at 6 a.m. vs. 9 a.m.) That can make the difference between getting an ADR and not on just a few locations at the 6 month mark.:thumbsup2

I have free Long Distance, and use the regular dining number, unless I am already on the phone with MS booking a room reservation, then it only takes a moment for them to do dining. I do not call MS if all I need is a dining reservation.

When I used MS for ADRs, I found it was a lot faster than calling WDW-DINE.

(I'm quoting myself here, but. . .) Just as an example, I was on the line for over an hour with WDW-DINE to make ressies (and I called around 7 or 8pm). I was on hold at least 20 minutes before a cast member even answered the phone. Then, she took each ADR separately and had me on hold at least 5 minutes each time while she looked it up in the system. When I called MS, it only took a few minutes, and I was never put on hold before a human answered, and I think only very briefly while actually booking the ADRs. Some may feel they don't want their fees going to make ressies, but to me, this is a specific perk given to DVC members, just as it is to call MS to make cash room ressies, recreation ressies, or to purchase APs.

Not quite sure why you feel that it is not "taking care of US", by making our adr's. It IS part of their job and one of OUR perks..not sure what you are opposed to...I find it one of the best perks..it is not taking a cm away from anyone...it is their job to do this(as atested to by the message asking you to press this number for ".....and Disney Dining". Also enjoy the 800 number as opposed to the 407 call from MA.

Wow, I've never had or heard of someone having an experience that bad. I had to wait maybe a minute for one lady to look up what I wanted. Maybe you had a really awful CM, or there was something else larger going on causing the delay.
