I am looking to book a 7 night cruise on the Treasure for October 2025 when they open up on Friday. My question is this: I have a family of 6 so we will need 2 staterooms. Obviously, this will be very pricey. We are looking at getting two connecting Oceanview rooms. Can I book the two rooms with just one lead adult guest in each so that the 20% deposit isn't so high and then add the two kids for each room later?

If you add people later you pay the current price of the cruise when you add them which will likely be more than opening day. I added a person to my Treasure Feb 2025 cruise it was almost 1k more.

The first 2 guests in a room are at full fare regardless of whether the second guest is an adult or a child. If you add in the extras later, you run the risk of the age group being maxed out and not being able to add them or lifeboat capacity.

And the extra guests are at prevailing rates when you book them.

Adding guests later means the entire room is re-priced at the rate offered when you add guests. I would add ASAP.

I once offered Grandma the opportunity to join our cruise for $xxx. She said no but then changed her mind a few months later and I paid dearly for it as I still only had her pay the originally quoted amount and I had to pay $1000+ more due to price changes since I made the original offer to her. She still doesn't know that happened, and never will. We were just glad to have her with us!

While it may help keep your deposit lower, you could end up paying a higher fare in the long run. I suggest booking everyone now.

Booking 1 adult into a stateroom is the same fare as booking 2; DCL does not offer "single occupancy" fares. So you are only looking at the difference of 20% of the youngest 2 guests. Make sure it's the youngest who are the additional guests. Depending on age their fares will be even lower than an older kid listed as 3rd guest.

Excellent info. Thanks!

You would end up paying more if you wait to add them. And if the sailing is really popular and you wait too long, there might not even be room to add them. Lifeboat capacity and kids' club capacity are as important as stateroom space when they calculate how many more children they can accommodate, so even if you have the rooms, if you wait too long on a popular sailing, there might not be availability for 4 more children.
