Has anyone booked the Disney 7 Day Western Cruise using both points and cash? There will be two adults. We have enough points to get a cabin with the porthole window. But husband REALLY wants the verandah again. We had a verandah in Oct 2001 when we did the 7 day eastern. But back then DVC offered "points specials," which they don't seem to do anymore.

So I was thinking, what if we got the verandah cabin and used points for one of us and paid cash for the other. Does anyone know an approximate amount they charge for the person paying cash? It is "rack rate?"

Thanks!

I don't know exactly what the cost in $$$ would be but our guide told us that when you are a DVC member and use points and pay cash to complete the ressie, it's at a greatly reduced rate. Hopefully someone on these boards can be a lot more helpful!

I'm not sure this will help you much because the price for the 2nd adult would surely be more than for a child. We used points for 3 adults and cash for our DS10 last October for the 7 night western and it was $544, plus the booking fee.

It will be very interesting to see what the cash price for 1 person will be from DVC, versus paying cash for both from someone like All Seasons. Just to see what "value" you will be getting for your points.

I can tell you on the 7-31-04 Western -Cat 4 that we just took, DVC wanted 318 points for the 1st adult and $4907 for the next adult, 17yo & 11yo. We booked with All Seasons for 6695. So in that case, we were only getting $1700 value for 318 points. Plus DVC/DCL would have had 4907 of my money tied up for 11 months because of paying when booking.
