I am going to take the plunge and book a May 2003 cruise for our 15th wedding anniversary, with the kids DS 6 and DD 10. The travel agent has me on hold for CAT 5 Cabin 7062. Anyone have thoughts on this stateroom? Location, etc. This is our first cruise so I'm clueless. If we fly, i plan to get our own transportation to port. Is this a good idea? I was pleased with Tiffany this year when we transfered to WDW.

Thanks.

It is hard for me to plan this far ahead!

When in May are you going? We are booked on the 5/17/03 eastern cruise. We have a thread somewhere on this board.

Don't forget when you book to mention code "REF" for first time cruisers. Supposedly you should mention it at time of booking and you will get a $50 stateroom credit.

With 4 people it is probably cheaper to rent a car from AVIS and drive down to PORT (only 50 min ride)

Hi blake1,
The stateroom 7062 is midship just 7 staterooms away from the elevatory lobby. This is a very good location. Only 2 floors from the kids clubs down and 2 floors up to the pool decks.
My family and I prefer stateroom 7074 it is right over one of the ships stabilizer bar, a little less motion.
Will you be fling in the night before the cruise? If so check out the Radisson near the port. They have a free shuttle to and from the port. If you drive they offer free parking for the lenght of your cruise. Avis is right next to the Radisson and they to offer free shuttle to and from the port. So if you fly rent from Avis drop it off when you finish with it tht night (one day rental) take the Radisson Shuttle to the port then have Avis pick you up after your cruise and drive back to the airport.

We stayed in 7062 on the Wonder and liked it so much that we booked the closest we could get (7066) on the Magic! Wonderful, quiet, centrally located. Enjoy!:)

How about a Category 6 cabin? They are exactly the same as Cat. 5 but are a bit cheaper. The only difference is that they are on decks 5 & 6 instead of 7. We've sailed on both deck 7 and deck 5 and found absolutely no difference in the experience. In fact, if pressed to make a choice we liked deck 5 a bit better.

Just thought I'd pass that along in case the wait list doesn't come through.

We stayed in 7070 on 5/25 western and loved the location--very comfy! You will be very happy with the location I am sure, and we also rented a car from Avis, stayed at the Radissson and then returned on the radisoon shuttle after the cruise, rented another car and returned it to the airport. Only two of us but still saved BIG BUCKS over a limo or the disney bus. Also, be aware--if you fly American, Delta, US Air or Northwest, you can check in your bags right at the port--they give you your boarding passes and take your luggage and you are free from carting it all over the airport! It was great! You will love the cruise but the worst part is that you will be spoiled and want to do it over and over again (not that that is a bad thing!)

Enjoy!

Dear blake 1

Did 4 days in WDW and 4 day cruise 4/17/02. It was wonderful and we stayed in room 7062 with dd13 and ds10. There is plenty of room, the balcony is great and the location is so that you can walk the stairs everywhere although the elevators were never a problem.

Take advantage of the on deck parties they are great entertainment. Food was pretty good the service was excellent.

Atlantis for walking around for a first timer was nice - $40.00 for us around trip, taxis everywhere. If you have a Freeport stop - forget IT it was too dirty and we only spent an hour there and $40.00 around trip for taxi not wortth it. I was there 24 years ago in my teens with my parents when the casino and hotel were BEAUTIFUL the international bazaar was top notch not anymore. Forget that stop stay on board and have a restful day on board.

have a great time

Dear blake1

Also don't pack too much either. For your son you may want to think about the cargo zip off pants so that dinner he has on the pants (NO shorts allowed) then afterwards he can just zip off the bottom part and take off in shorts without changing. For your daughter, skirt/top or sundress is fine.

I also usually spend but careful for extras on trips. Be careful the drinks are plentyful but can get expensive. THe threater also has snacks for sell which I allowed a couple of times. At the end of your cruise you can either have a small invoice or a invoice of several pages have fun, spend some but be careful too. Also the tips run a good $200.00 and we tipped the servers alittle more they were so great!
