If I book a cash room online, can it later be linked to my points reservation?

Disney site says there is a studio available. It isn't available using points, so I would like to pay for the one night and link the reservations so we can stay in the same room.

No only if u book through member services not cro which you are doing.

You can call each and ask them to note your other reservation number on the reservation and to make a note that you would like to stay in the same room.

At check in, you can ask them again. I have heard that they try to meet this request but there is no guarantee.

When booking on cash through MS, they typically book in such a way that people stay in the same room, even with check in/check out.

Just make sure you don't have a room type that they don't normally do on cash like standard or BW view at BWV. Do make the request known at every opportunity. You'll have to check in again for the seond reservation so do so early and make the request again then.
