Booking/cancelling and travel agent

Hi -
we just decided to go back to disney in Feb!!

We are using a travel agent like we did the last time, but I still like to do my own research too.
Because were are less then 6 months out from our trip, I know getting some of our favourites will be difficult.

I was looking on line, and found some I'd like to book now, incase they go away before I get to officially booking with the agent. I'm wondering, if I book them myself now, do I really screw up my agents planning? Can she change it if she thinks some other plan is better. And if I did cancel one or more on my own, do I get penalized?

You can book your own dining reservations if you like. You use your MDE just like your travel agent would use. Even when the travel agent books your dining reservations you have full control over canceling the reservations for better times etc.
