My sister in law just booked yesterday for her first trip with her husband! I am sooooooooooooooo excited for her. They are going August 19th - 26 and are on the DDP. Will it be difficult for them to get ADRs when at Disney or should they book ahead of time. Since it is their first time, they don't want to overplan and have each day mapped out. They will do some planning, but will be more of a go with the flow trip. They will make a few ADRs for Chef Mickeys and California Grille, and probably Le Cellier.

Any thoughts on the avialability once at Disney?

TIA

Make ADR's now! They will be hard to get. If they change their minds, they can always cancel when they get there. Tell them have a Magical Trip :)

I wish them luck with Chef Mickey's and LeCellier! I have been trying to get a Chef Mickey's dinner for any date between 8/13 and 8/22 and can't get anything before 8:55 pm.

Make the ADR's now or they'll never find a place to eat, especially in August. And at this late date, I'd be willing to bet that LeCellier is already fully booked.

You can make ADR's up to 180 days out at most places and believe me, most people do, so that leaves a limited number of openings for anyone who doesn't. Waiting until they arrive will almost guarantee that they won't be able to get a table.

We always go during value season and even we saw people getting turned away at places (especially LeCellier) because they didn't make ADR's ahead of time. August is peak season, so they'll definitely want to make whatever ADR's they can right now.

Your bet would be correct. I tried yesterday just on a whim to try for Le Cellier for the first week of August and they are all booked.

Tell them to makes the ADRs now. We normally travel with a go with the flow way but with this trip I planned alot of things ahead of time. We don't like being set to a certain schedule so I only planned like a breakfast and a dinner (lunch would be whatever we run into that looks good, counterservice) or I have a lunch and a later dinner date (breakfast would be at the hotel we are staying at)

I'm sure they will have a great time! :goodvibes

Thanks everyone. I figured they would need to book now. I really appreciate everyone's input.

They are so excited. She cannot wait to see Mickey. I hope they have as much fun there as we do when we visit.

I am sure they would be able to get some kind of ADR's. But be prepared when the more popular restaurants will be most likely be booked solidly.

If they are flexiable they might get all the restaurants they want. For Lecellier you might try lunch instead of dinner. Maybe a early dinner for Calif Grill. Late breakfast or late dinner for Chef Mickey's..Good luck! BTW Free dining doesn't start until 8/24
