Booking AP Room before buying pass?

Is it possible to book a room at the AP rate before buying the AP pass? I'm kicking myself b/c we were there last May and are returning in Jan. I should have bought the pass then but didn't know if we'd use it. If there are similar AP rates out for Jan as last year, it will make sense to buy a pass, but until we see the rates, I don't want to shell out the cash (we probably won't be back again for 15-18 months).

yes, you can buy and then check in for ap rate(book at ap rate)

if you can afford to buy an AP voucher, do so. Ticket prices went up last year in August, but I don't remember if AP prices went up.

yes you can book with the AP rate but not have an AP. I did it. I bought my AP later and then traded my card in for the AP at EPCOT. No one has ever asked me in the 3 trips we've been since having it to see my AP.
I've heard it depends on CM
