Do you have to have all points banked at time of booking if you are booking 11 months ahead or do you have to have points available at time of visit? Is this ever an issue for any DVC members reading this?

Not sure if this question is perfectly clear or if I have a clear grasp of how banked points and booking work. I'm not a DVC member, yet.

Thanks.

Points are deducted from your account when the reservation is placed. If you have points in the prior UY that you want to use, you must bank them before you book the reservation.

And to add, everything is based on the UY that travel is happening. So, if I am traveling in my 2013 UY, even though I will call and book during my 2012 UY, I would be allowed to use banked 2012 UY points, 2013 UY points, and borrowed 2014 UY points.

And as long as you have points available for use, you don't have to pay anything out of pocket at the time of booking correct?

For DVC Resort reservations, there are no booking fees. If you use points for a non DVC reservation, most of those have a $95 transaction fee. Dining plans, tickets, transportation are all at the members expense.
