Hello again, so last night I decided to practice once on the online ADR system. Right at 2 am (central time) I got on to the reservation page for CRT and I put in the date of latest available day and the time I wanted, 8 am, and the number of people, 2.

So I pressed the button and there were no available times. Then I remember some people saying if you can't get a reservation for 2 then try for 3. So I hit the modify search button real quick and put in 3 people. And right away it game me a time for 9 am. I thought "wow, it really works" and that wasn't a bad time for someone who doesn't have their room yet. So then I closed it out real quick so someone else could get that time.

So back to my question, is it ok to book an ADR for 3 when it's really for 2? Is it not good to do this or unethical in any way? I figured if they give you a table for four anyway then it shouldn't be a problem, but I'm not sure if that's the case for any or all the restaurants.

Thanks :wizard:

don't know. But I did the same thing.I booked for 4 when I only have 3.It was for the Garden Grill for my DD's 6th birthday and there were no parties of 3 :confused3 But tons of availibility for 4

We have done it, CM's have actually encourage me to do it...they will say "Nothing open for 2, maybe you will have someone join you as I have a table for 3 open" etc...

If you are planning to book CRT just remember they will charge you for no-shows.

Oh really? That's very good to know, thank you. Are there other restaurants that will charge for no-shows?

This thread just made my day! Why didn't I think to try this earlier?? I have been trying to get a Rose and Crown for 2 adults around the time of illuminations. I have tried several times a day for the last two weeks to get this ressie. I read this thread, popped over to the reservation site and got a reservation for 3. No problems.

While this is true, as long as you call dining before the 24 hour cancellation period and modify your ADR to the correct number of people, you will be fine.

Also good to know, thank you :thumbsup2

This worked for me too. I wanted a Sunday night Ohana ressie but I could get nothing for a party of 2. I finally went up to 5 and got my time slot. I also had planned to get together with a friend here from the DIS boards so I had everything planned with her and her family-party of 3 extra. However it fell out and so I had to call to cancel.

After calling I got the ressie changed to just 2 people. So, sometimes it works.

FWIW, I had an almost opposite experience with a CM from the ones others are recounting. I was trying to modify my existing 1900pf reservation (for 4) to try for an earlier time. There was a space for a party of five, and I asked whether I could take that and see if someone else could join us. The CM told me I could, but that if I called back to modify it to four people, then I'd lose the slot for 5 people and would have to hope they still had a table for 4 available. It was very, very clear from her tone that she was trying to discourage me from doing exactly what the OP here is doing.

I opted to stick with my original reservation, because I didn't want to risk losing the ressie for good. If it turns out that the CM was feeding me a line, I'll be pretty annoyed.

not necessairly if there is not table for 2 you will be out of luck. I have seen people report it happening here. You cannot modify if there is no sopt for your party size. It is accept the no-show charge or cancel the whole ressie.

We have a reservation for CRT for 7. Now that I made it, there's a possiblity that an 8th might join us. Would that be a problem to change when we check in at the resort? I didn't think it would be since won't we be scheduled for a table for 8 regardless?

Whew, so much conflicting advice. I'm just gonna pray for a spot for 2 at each restaurant I request.

Congrats to you!! No place else I would rather be to celebrate. When are you going and where are you staying? We will be at Port Orleans from the 16th - 26th. We disneymooned back in 1999. Our anniversary is the 18th of December. We have CRT reservations and are going to the MVMCP. I can't wait!!!

This is true!! My parents were planning to go with us on our 2007 trip, but my mom had to have emergency bypass surgery before the trip. So when I called to try and decrease our ADR number they told me if there wasn't another table for our new table size we were out of luck. So be careful!!

CRT will charge in full... and if you try to downsize later you may lose your reservation entirely if they don't have a table for your new size. This would also apply to the Candelight Processional Packages I believe. Akerhouse charges a no-show fee which I think is $10 per person.

HTH!!

For this restaurant this might be tough! You might try to either nail down the person and try to make a new reservation or try to make a reservation for one and then asked to be seated together when you check in. That way you could cancel out and avoid having to pay the no show fee or canceling your whole ressie.

Good Luck!!

I have read the advice to change your party size till you get a table too, but I have to say, I think they are on to it. At least at the restaurants, if not at reservations. We had a party of 6 for Le Ceiller last year, and somehow they had it down as a party of 8. I have no idea how, we never had 8 people on our reservation. Anyway when they called us they asked where the other 2 people were. And we did get the stink eye from the hostess when we insisted we only had 6 in our party.

Which makes sense. At the restaurant a party of 8 would typically bring in more money than a party of 6. I think the reservation CMs don't care, but the ones who actually work at the restaurants do.

Well, I am glad that I came across this thread. I can make ADR's in a few days and we have a couple that are supposed to go with us, but it is not looking so promising right now. I was planning to just go ahead and make our ressies for 7 and then just call back and change them to 5 if they can not make it. I did not even consider that it might be a problem. Something to think about.
