Booking Airtran throught Kayak.com

Hi, I was reading on the transportation board that if you book your flight through Kayak.com you save the seat fee? Has anyone else done this? How do you pick your seats? Is it after you have inputed your credit card info? Also, Kayak took me to Orbitz. Trying to book flights home from Florida in March. The best rate I am getting on the 18th is $85 for the return flight to Flint. We paid $69 on the flight to Florida, through Airtran, but also had to pay the seat fee. I know it is only $24, but every dollar saved is used at Disney for fun!! Thanks for your help!

I booked airtran through kayak.com last month and was able to save the $ on the seat selection.

When you put in your flight info (departure dates, location) it runs a search for you, and all the results come up in a separate window. Just click on the flight you like and it brings you to the actual airtran website. Then you book exactly as though you would book if you went through airtran.com directly, except when you choose your seats it charges you 0$ instead of the usual $6 per selection.

Something I noticed on Kayak - not sure if maybe I was doing something wrong ? - was that the flight was about $10 more expensive than directly on the Air Tran site (i.e. Air Tran was $62 and Kayak was showing approx $72)?? Anyone else?
