I've been looking everywhere for cheap airfare and have finally decided that the price on Travelocity is as low as I'm gonna find and will probably book it, but when I look on the American Airlines website the same flights are much more. Is this common? I wouldn't have expected to see such a difference in price. It makes me nervous as I have never booked a flight with Travelocity....Can anyone reassure me?

Ive booked 5 flights through travelocity in the past year. Ive never had a problem except once where they called me the next day to tell me the computer went down and that my computer reciept was "lost" but they snail mailed me a hard copy (my travel date was about 8 weeks away at that time- they said they'd have fed ex'ed it if it was closer).
Ive been very pleased with them.

I recently booked a flight to Denver thru Travelocity. I found the samr thing the price on the Travelocity site was less then the airlines site.

We have used travelocity a few times without any problems. The fares were always much lower than I could find directly through the airlines. The only time you may run into a problem is if you want to take advantage of a better fare offered directly through the airline (say they had a buy one and get a free companion ticket) - in that case you would not be eligible because you did not purchase initially from the airline. Also keep in mind that the travelocity tickets are cheap but that price comes with a highly restricted ticket (no refunds, transfers etc...) But it is a great way to save if your travel dates are firm and I highly recommend them!

I've never had problems getting the same fare from the airline website after checking it with travelocity. (Most recently Delta and American)

Last year, my mom booked through Travelocity - a great fare - and missed it. The next day they contacted her and said that the fare had been pulled before Travelocity booked it for her. Evidently they have a few hours to purchase the ticket for you, and if the fare is pulled, you're out of luck. They don't make you buy the higher priced ticket, however. I don't know how often this happens, but I just wanted to make sure you were aware that it could happen.

Disnee Dad Says..................................WE have booked a couple flights through travelocity and had no problems. Sometimes you get the same rate as the airline site, then I switch to the airline site. Also used cheap tickets and orbitz once each. Just know it will cost you about $100 to makes changes per ticket, so be sure you know when you are going. I always buy non transferable tickets, and have only had to change once, because of work.
Get this, we do a quarterly fresh meat inventory in our huge warehouse, that takes 20 people to do. In 2001, 60 days before our trip they change the date of the inventory to coincide with our vacation! And tell me they can't do it without me! Lucky for us, back then the fee was $75 and we actually found flights that were $25 cheaper so it only cost $50 per ticket.

I have bought tickets from both Expedia and Travelocity. At the time is was checking the prices I also checked the airlines as well. The prices you see and book are what you will pay. I did ave a little trouble with Travelocity. I also was traveling on AA, apparently they frequently change their flight times. I would get an e-mail update everytime, and on one of the last ones right before my trip, they neglected to get us on our originating flight out of Boston. I contacted them in a panic, I had purchased these tickets months in advance. They told me to contact AA, they rebooked us but it was oversold and we were on standby. It was very scary as we were traveling with 4 kids 2 of which were 2yo twins. I was afraid we would be scattered on the plane. We were, but the flight attendant was good enough to seat me and the babies together. Hubby was off the hook!!
This last time I chose Expedia and Delta. No connecting flights and no changes. It went much smoother. The both run about the same in prices too.

Good luck

I have to cancel my upcoming trip and I bought my tickets through Travelocity. I called Travelocity yesterday and it will be $130 per ticket to change (3 tickets). For those of you who have had to cancel, can I call the airline directly and maybe get a smaller cancellation fee? We are flying US Air.

Thanks

I've used both Orbitz and Travelocity. Lately it seems I've gotten better rates through Orbitz. The problem I have with Travelocity is that it never fails that the specific days I want to travel never have the cheap fares available!
