Hi everyone! I just bought my first DVC contract at BWV via resale. I know that it takes some time to be entered into the DVC database and my contract closed just on Monday. But being curious, I thought I would call MS to see wether they already had me in their system. I got the information that I would be able to verify my membership with my home adress (since I don't have a social security number as I don't live in the US).

However, MS was only willing to to tell me that, indeed, they have me in their system. But for anything else, I would have to have my membership number or Club ID (is this the same or is this different??). After the first lady told me this, I called back and spoke to another person who told me the same thing. Has this happened to anyone else??

I don't mind to wait for a few days more, but I am looking at booking a trip in about 11 months time and really would want to take advantage of my home resort booking window!

Any help or advice would be really appreciated! :goodvibes

we closed on November 8 and the contract was registered with Orange County on November 30. As of this morning we are still not in the system, so unable to book anything.

The CM I spoke to just now (Brooke) said I have to call member administration on Monday and they can give me my member number.

There standard veryification is the SSN thing but call back and talk to a manager at membership administration.

I wonder if they can see your name in the system now, but your points are not there yet. That is normal and happened to us. Supposedly one person enters your name/address/etc. and another enters the points. I am pretty sure once our points were in the system (one week after closing for us, but could take up to ten business days) I was able to get our membership number. Once the points showed up I called and booked a stay, got set up on the member website and I think was given my membership number.

Yes, it goes through two different steps, one step is where you are entered into the system, before they actually deposit points into your account, etc. As mentioned, the US standard is SSN to verify identity and not sure they would let you actually manage your account with just an address. You might have to actually wait for them to send you your member information.

It is the biggest downside buying resale, direct purchasers can begin booking right away. I wouldn't sweat the booking window too much. Your advantage is 7-11 months and most of the resorts will not book up right at the 11 month mark (maybe AKV concierge or some for preferred rooms for Thanksgiving weekend), no one else can book at your room until 7 months. Good luck!!

When I purchased my resale contract I did not provide a SSN during the purchase so they did not have that to use for identification. I called MS Administration a few days after closing to see if I was in the system. They requested my contract number (which I found in my purchase or closing docs, can't remember which) and then they gave me my DVC Member ID over the phone. Member Admin is only open Mon-Fri however. Once I was set up in the system I provided a password to use for identification.

I just received my membership cards. It was about 3 weeks after I called and was told I was in the system.

Thank you very much for all of your replies! You really helped me to be less nervous about the issue and also about my booking window! :thumbsup2 I have been lurking on this board for quite some time now, mainly to learn about DVC before buying, and am really grateful for all the helpful people here! I think I really like the DVC member community! :goodvibes

I have also been in touch with the Timeshare Store (I bought through them) and they were really fast to answer me - as they have been through the whole resale process, they were wonderful to work with!

So, I am quite confident that I will be able to settle this issue - at least I know that I can call MemberAdministration on Monday, it sounds like they would be able to help me. :goodvibes

I am glad to hear that The Timeshare Store, Inc.® was able to help you with your membership concerns.

Just a follow up to a previous post: DVC Member Services is open 7 days a week from 9 am to 5:30 pm eastern time.

Hi Robert, yes, Jamie was wonderful throughout the whole process!:goodvibes

We closed last Monday, Nov. 29th. We were in the DVC system without points on Saturday, Dec. 3. MS gave me my membership number, club number, and one-time password for the website. The latter two numbers were needed for logging into the DVC member website.

We checked the DVC member website on Monday morning, December 6th, and our points were in the system. We call MS right away and made our first reservation. We were thus in the system less with points less than a week after closing. MS told us that it might take a while to get our cards, but we could get a temporary card at SSR if we needed one.

Hope that our time frame helps. We were very pleased with the speed and the friendliness of MS.
