After returning from our first Disney trip, and getting hooked we have narrowed down our dates for next year :)

We would like to stay May 7, 2011- May 14, 2011

(possibly longer depending on discounts)

I am hoping and praying for some type of room discount, which I assume wont be released till January, right?

We have selected one resort from each category we want to stay in depending on how much money we save up, and if there are discounts available

so- my questions are- we were going to book with our moderate choice for the dates listed above when August rolls around (is this a good idea- to book early I mean) and they release the new prices.

Once the prices are announced can we book a full package (room and tickets)?

If they do release discounts, how easy is it to switch our reservation to a new one- for instance switching from CSR to AKL with a room discount? No charge right?

Thanks!

I'm in your boat exactly, planning to book for June 2011 and posted a very similar question earlier. The answer that I got lead me to believe that you can book now and make any changes (package, resorts, dates, etc.) as long as it is before the 45 day point. Whenever a pin or promo comes out you can also add that to the reservation without any penalties.

Like I said, I just asked the question as well so I'm by no means any expert so if I got any of that wrong somebody please correct me. :)

I wish I knew! I've already been driving my hubby crazy with talking about it. He just gave me the ok last week and I'm sure he's already regretting it. LOL

My kids summer break just started and they're wanting my attention but I can't pull myself away from here.

One thing I have done is went to check out the ADR calculator to get the exact dates in my planning book for when I can set those up. Don't want to miss that window!

I would book a room only reservation for the resort and dates you want now. Then when and if discounts come out you can decide which one is best for you and add it to your present reservation. Sometimes the packages are a better deal and you can chane to a package. You can always change resort or dates after if you choose. I have done this many times and there's usually no problem.

I try to pick the resort I would like to stay at, and the dates I would like. I've always been lucky with snagging some kind of discount or AP rate. If the discount or rate is good I'll add a few days.
