Booking ADRs for January '08 Question

We'll be at The World the week of January 5-12 '08 and are in the midst of deciding whether or not to do the DDP (which I still can't decide on). My question is, if we decide to do the DDP will it be incredibly difficult to get ADRs at the places we want to eat at? 5 months away right now and I know the stock answer is always to book ADRs 6 months out. Just wondering how difficult this will be to book ADRs.

We are going late January and made our ADRs. Like you we are uncertain whether to buy the DDP '08. We are leaning to not getting it, but we made some of our ADRs just in case we change our mind. Just because you don't know, you can still make some of your ADRs now, maybe you'll keep them, but it's something to work with. We have our favorite places and will be eating there regardless (Kona Cafe), but there are several we will cancel if we decide to not to buy the DDP (LeCellier/Coral Reef).

Why not just make ADRs at the restaurants you would want to go to? You can make reservations whether you are using the DDP or not. Then if you decide not to go to some of the restaurants, you can cancel them.

We went in late January last year and had made SOME ADRs well in advance - like CA Grill, Cinderella's Table (booked about 45 days in advance!) and the like. Once we were in the World, on 3 days of our stay, we were able to make a morning phone call and get an ADR for that evening. The restaurants we booked were San Angel Inn, Jiko and the Rose and Crown Dining Room. So yes, it's highly possible that you will be able to make more spur of the moment ADRs -- BUT, if going to a particular restaurant is important to you, go ahead and make that ADR as soon as possible. You can always change them at a later date...

Go ahead and make your ADR's, then decide on the DP.
I made all my ADR's this morning!

We went with the DP, I got tired of thinking about it, and regardless of its faults, I like that all our meals will be pre-paid.

As other have said, book for any that you're worried about. I just changed ours - we were planning on the regular dining plan and ended up booking the deluxe plan. No problems with any restaurants or times that we wanted.

Last year we went around the same time and we booked a few meals later - Crystal Palace for breakfast I think - that was no problem. A few we booked when we were in WDW as well (the morning of/night before) and we were able to get those too. We weren't trying to get CRT or Le Cellier either. HTH! :)

I just booked ADRs for late January a few days ago, and got everything I wanted (including Le Cellier and Cinderella's Royal Table lunch) for within 10 minutes of the time I wanted. Make the ressies now while it is still easy, cause it will only get harder as your dates get closer. You can always change or cancel them as your plans firm up.

Jan is a nice time to go isn't it? If you have must do places that are super popular, reserve it. (LIke Le Cellier, Chef Mickey)

If you change your mind, you can cancel. So much easier to cancel than try to scramble later.

I'm going in late January and I called yesterday to add Le Cellier to our ADRs and got the time I wanted for lunch. There are openings :thumbsup2

You can always cancel if you don't need the ressies. As they say, better safe than sorry.
