Booking a Week Out

Bear with me here. We are currently in ROFR on a small contract and expect to hear soon. I have a trip planned already for May at the Yacht Club. Since we are arriving very late, though, I decided to save some $$$ and do the first night, room only, at the Pop Century. It is possible, probably 50/50, that I will have my points 6 days prior to our departure, which means I can cancel the Pop reservation if I can find a DVC room. Since the YC is a package, I can't cancel that and wouldn't want to b/c we're headed back to WDW over Labor Day.

Since my contract has banked points that need to be used by 08/31, I would like to use one night of points at a DVC resort and then switch over to YC. The other reason I'd like to do this is because I'd like to ship a box to start my Owner's Locker and since YC is a convention resort, my understanding is that they will charge me to handle the box I hope to ship.

So the question is, what are the chances of finding any studio at a DVC resort for one night (Friday) with only one week's notice? I obviously will not cancel my cash reservation until I have both points and a room, but I really would like to get the OL set up prior to our Labor Day visit when I'll be bringing my husband to WDW for his first time.

May is a slower month, there might be something available. I once got a BCV studio 1 week out for 1 night as an addition to a business trip.

It's possible; I got a studio on a Friday night in Dec at the BW once, on the day of.

I was thinking it was probably possible, but having never tried to book with DVC I didn't actually know. Of course, my grand plan is all contingent on passing ROFR and a timely closing. Even then I'm probably 50/50 as I hear Member Services won't give new member numbers out over the phone anymore.
