I’m in the U.K. and would like to book a resort with Disney via U.S. site whilst on our next trip.
Do you pay your balance in advance or at the resort ?
Can you pay with a gift card?

If you book a room only, then you pay a deposit at the time of booking equal to one night's stay. Then you pay the balance when you arrive and check in at the resort. If you book a package then you pay a smaller deposit and the balance at 30 days prior to arrival.
I'm not sure about being able to pay with a gift card, but I don't think that it would be a problem.

Thanks for your quick response.

If you would like to pay in full before your arrive, you can call Disney and ask to pay the full amount for your room. This won't include any charges you make to the room while you are staying there, of course.

That’s great we can definitely pay with a gift card.
Is there a $ limit on gc?

A Disney GC can hold up to $1,000. You can have multiple GC's though.

No freebies?😋

$1000.00 Maximum
You can combine unlimited cards on the website: Disneygiftcard.com up to $1000.00 on to a single card.
Since we are limited on the Disney Web site to three forms of payment each payment we make. In my case, I made several separate payments each one with a Gift card of $1,000 (a few cards combined on to one card).

You cannot make a payment on a room only reservation on line. You have to call to do that (and you don't have to pay the full balance, either- you can make multiple payments). For packages, you can make payments on line.

For room only reservations, any outstanding balance is due upon check-in. If you do online check-in, Disney will charge the balance to the credit card you entered when you did online check-in, and that charge will happen around 6am of your check-in day. If you don't do online check-in, then you'll pay the balance at the front desk when you arrive. If you plan on using gift cards, either use them to pay off your balance before your check-in day, or don't do online check-in and use them when you check-in.

Thanks for the further info.

May I ask another Very Long Winded question? 🧐

What I’m trying to ascertain:

Is it cheaper to book a room only ticketless package and add regular dining plan for 3?
(Dh has annual pass)

Or-book via U.K. site for ‘free dining
However, that would involve buying a ticket for dh (and clearly not required)

I’ve tried (& failed) many times to look at ap pricing-but it just won’t play with me.

Therefore-I’ve guessed it’s around the rate of gift of magic room offer;
Would this be correct?

If some kind disser would care to calculate for me correctly-I would be ever so grateful.

Arriving Sunday April 19
For 5 nights
In the cheapest value resort (possibly all star music)
3 adults
Wheelchair accessible room
Regular dining plan

The cheapest value resort is All Star Music
dates April 19 to 24th
3 adults
preferred room, handicap accessible, with tub and option for hearing
2 double beds
with passholder discount - $801.89 for room only
and add the dining plan - $1,976.18

The cost for the same room with the gift of magic offer, instead of the annual passholder discount is -$897.49 for room only. The website won't let me add the dining plan to a room booked with this offer, but you can add the dining plan if you call Disney.

The annual pass discount is 20% and the gift of magic discount is 15%.

Do you mean booking next trip while in the US at WDW? If you’re booking while there look for a bounce back offer. It’s in the booklet in your room.

i wouldn’t purchase the Dining Plan. It doesn’t really save you much money if any. As an experiment we took the price of what it would cost for the full dining plan that includes QS & TS and put it on a gift card we used only for dining. Ate what we wanted. We ended up with a good amount of cash left over on gift card.
As for free dining, it’s not really free as you are paying rack rate for room. You’d have to do the Disney math to see if the free dining will save anything especially since you’d have to buy husband tickets he doesn’t need.

Would you consider using a US travel agent? I am also from the U.K. but use a US agent with whom I communicate by e mail. She applies any available discounts and makes the telephone calls to Disney. The US booking system is so much more flexible than the U.K. one and you can easily transfer to better offers/discounts as they become available.

You may already be aware, but in case you're not it's also probably worth mentioning that what you get from the UK free dining plan depends on which type of resort you are staying at.

For value resorts this is free breakfast (1 quick service meal), for moderate resorts it is the quick service dining plan (2 quick service, 2 snacks, mug) and for deluxe resorts it is the standard dining plan (1 table service, 1 quick service, 2 snacks, mug).
