Booking a reservation for may at 7 months?

I am planning another vacation for may 2010 with my home resort. I am going to book two reservations next week at BWV.

Reservation #1: 4 nights - standard studio May 3-6
Reservation #2: 7 nights - standard 2 BR May 7-13

At the 7 month mark I would like to switch reservation #1 to a standard studio room at BLT or AKV.

What are my odds for doing this?

Do you think it is easier or harder to book a standard view room over a room with a view?

Is EARLY may a high season for DVC reservations? Thus giving me no shot at getting a waitlist fulfilled.

Early May is not a high season for DVC. I got a standard view 1 bedroom for BWV once for the last week of April at 7 months.

I've made reservations for May at 7 months with no problems the last two years. I stayed at BWV both years for the Flower & Garden Festival.

I would think that switching to AKV would not be a problem. I'm guessing that BLT would be limited, and MK view would definately not be available.

I'll be booking my May 2010 BLT stay next month at the 11 month mark.

Do you think that value or standard rooms are more in demand because of the low point cost? Or do you think they would have more availability because these two resorts are in demand due to views of animals or fireworks?

I booked reservation #1 this morning. I tried to book 3 days of reservation #2 but I was told that because the room category changed it was considered a seperate reservation and would have to be made on the 7th of this month. Of course, the 7th is a sunday and that means I will have to wait until monday to complete my trip plans.

Member services is open on Sunday.

MS is opened on Sundays. However, I don't think at 11 months out it would matter if you waited until Monday.

At BLT, It's my guess that the standards would be the first to go because of the lower point cost and the location, sort of like BWV standards. At AKV there are many more standards and so I don't think it's going to be a problem at Kidani.

I don't know what I was thinking. Did MS add sundays when they changed their operating hours?

Well, If we don't get BLT at 7 months it won't be a big deal. The wife and I just wanted to try a couple of places to see if we wanted to buy points elsewhere or buy more points for BWV.

We are very flexible with Reservation #1 and if we only get one day at Blt that would be enough. I'm more interested in experiencing AKV anyway. Either of the two sections would be fine with me.

For those interested, I booked reservation number two on sunday. I was going to do it first thing that morning, but I forgot. So at noon I called and it was very easy.

I thought that a standard 2 BR might be difficult to get a BWV, even at 11 months out.

Well now the wait begins. In 4 months I will see if I can get into AKV or BLT. If I get into BLT I will stay 3 nights in a standard view studio. If I get into AKL I will stay 5 nights in a standard view studio or 3 nights in a savanah view studio.

Now I just need to decide on which AKV to stay in, kidani or jambo

I got a BCV dedicated 2 BR this year early May when we booked in January. No one was more surprised than me--I didn't even ask if BCV was available, just asked for BWV, because I assumed BCV would be full! You never know!:cool1:

According to my guide, only 10% of the rooms at BLT are standard view, so there aren't very many. It's hard to say how in demand they'll be.

Early May is low season - you'll have no trouble getting standard view at AKV. If you prefer that over BLT, I wouldn't even bother with the backup at BWV (I'm lazy that way).

It's just too soon to tell how popular standard view at BLT will be. I'm guessing it'll be hard to get at 7 months just because there are so few rooms.

Wow..we are doing opposite plans! I'm about to book AKV for next May with hopes of getting BWV at the 7 month mark!

I really don't have a preference, but the wife wants to stay at AKV for at least one night. If we don't get a night at BLT we won't be crushed, that's for sure. I just want to get a feel for the resorts before we purchase more points somewhere. We bought into BWV sight unseen because of the location (which we love). Since our 2 year old refuses to get in his stroller we don't have to worry about packing a stroller on a bus anymore. That frees us up to check out AKV. Of course with small children BLT is alluring.

As far as the BWV backup goes, I would get buried by my wife if we didn't get AKV or BLT and then couldn't get back into our home resort. So, I'll hang on to that.
