Booking a Party of 3.... frustration

I don't understand why they make it so difficult to book a Reservation for a party of 3.
If I switch the people to 2 or 4 there is alot of availability...but if I enter 3 people there is NOTHING available !!!!

we have always had issues trying to book for 2
the other year when we made our adr for date night for 2 online i made it for 4 then a few days later called and changed it to 2 with no issues
but now that they have the cc deal i have no idea if there will be issues

There are a lot more tables for even numbered parties in a restaurant and the computer is looking to maximize the number of seats being filled so even when there are tables for 4 available it will reject your party of 3.

As others have said, try booking for an even number, then if it's a cc hold reservation either call to downsize it or keep trying for a table for 3. If it is a non-cc hold, you can just show up at the restaurant and let the CMs at the podium know there are only 3 of you.
