Booking a grand villa at OKW

How difficult is it for non OKW members to book a grand villa. We are looking into resales but wanted to know if we didn't purchase at OKW what would our chances be to get one. Unfortunetly travel time is limited to holidays (Easter,Christmas) so has anyone actually gotten a grand villa at 7 months? Thanks.

You got a shot, not a good one, certainly not something you can count one, but you may get lucky once in a great while.

The best place for this type of information would be to call Member Services/DVC. Since they are the offical representatives of DVC and they are very familiar with the booking patterns their answer will be the correct and accurate one.

I don't know, I thought asking people with experience booking GVs was a good idea.

I don't know if this is the norm or not but just this week I booked an OKW Grand Villa for a week in June at our 7 month out window. When I first called, I waitlisted for most of the days but within 2 weeks, every single day came through!

Getting a Grand Villa is possible. Getting a Grand Villa at Christmas Week will be difficult.

Maybe you could occasionally trade your points with an OKW owner and then you could reserve at 11 months.

Only problem with that is you can't trade in AND trade out in the same Use Year. So, in a single transaction, you really couldn't send someone 200 BWV points and receive 200 OKW points.

jade1 probable meant trade ressies and not points. Each owner makes a ressie for the other, utilizing the 11 month window.

I tried finding someone on this board a while back and had no takers to trade ressies for me with BCV. So if you have success, please post about it so I know I may have some hope.

As a teacher, I always vacation during the big ticket times of Easter, Christmas, and Fourth of July. Aside from not being well paid, generally degraded,l and vilified, I also have to spend vacations with every child in the world--it just doesn't seem fair, you know? Anyway, it's very hard to get a grande villa, I haven't done it yet, so I am just going to buy an OKW contract to get the 11 month window.
