Booking 7 months out

Hello everyone: How hard is it to get a room(studio) at BCV if your home resort is Keywest? Seriously thinking of buying a resale and our preference is to stay at BCV. I know I should buy at BCV but there aren't any resales and the price is better for Keywest. I'm retiring next year and our time is pretty flexible and I have no problem with making ressies 6-7 months in advance. Help. Thanks Tom

I think you have a good chance at getting a studio 7 months out. We called 2 weeks ago for a quick trip next week and was able to get a studio at BCV....though, I do feel we were very lucky on such short notice. I feel the 1 bdrm & 2 bdrm would be a lot harder to book.

If you're flexible with your vacation dates then it shouldn't be a problem getting reservations at BCV seven months out. However, you may have problems during peak DVC times which include Spring Break/Easter, October/November during EPCOT's Food and Wine Festival, and Thanksgiving and the first two weeks of December. Also, I've heard that studios book the fastest as they take the least amount of points and families of four (or even five) can stay in studios.

Studios do book early, at OKW its GVs first, then studios, then one bedrooms then two bedrooms. Two bedroom are the easiest too book. I think that is why the newr resorts have a smaller ratio of dedicated to lock off two bedroom units.

A BWV resale is a little more upfront, a little more in dues, but does give you the eleven month window at the Boardwalk area. If BCV is definitely your prefered place to stay, BWV would come in a close second.

As DVC continues to expand, it will be harder and harder to get 7 month reservations at the smaller resorts like the BCV and VWL. With the new SSR coming into the system and adding thousands of new members looking to try new places, be careful. You have to ask whether the few hundred dollar savings is really worth it when you consider it for the next 39 years. As is often repeated here, buy where you want to stay.
