Howdy,

So here's the situation. About to close (9/6) on a 100pt BWV resale contract. This contract has 100 pts from 2022 banked with a June UY. Have to be used by May 31 2024.
WIth our daughter in High School, our spring break is about the only time we can use them before they expire, which is April 20th week.
We also just purchased a 50pt BWV contract (same June UY), and this contract has 50 2023 pts and is available to use.
The 50 is not enough, and the 100 contract **might** just get pts loaded while still in the 11-month booking window (before the 7-month'ers gobble them up!) to stay at BWV. It will be close i think. We'd really like to stay at BWV, but SSR or OKW would be ok if it was booked solid...
Any creative ideas on what to do? If it wasnt for the 100, we'd probably just bank the 50 2023 and call it a day, But the "free" 100 pts has us going down to WDW before they expire.

Can we do something with 2023 50 and then modify and use the banked 2022 without losing the reservation?
We also dont want to borrow 2024 either

Thanks

I just had a similar situation, only we bought a direct add on. Our guide assured me we could use the new add on and put 50 points back into the 2024 use year if I called Member Services.

I called member services and explained. They escalated it to a supervisor, who put my reservation on "hold" while they transferred the points around (so that I didn't risk losing the reservation by having to modify, transfer points, and rebook). It worked like a charm. Hopefully they'll do the same for you.

Not sure of creative ways, but we closed on a resale 8/21, got a Welcome to DVC email from Disney on 8/31 and called when I got it and they were able to load the points while on the call. So if you can get the same 10 day turnaround you would beat the 7 month window.

You can absolutely use the 2023 allotment on the 50 point contract to book something and swap the points with 50 points from the 100 2022 points banked into 2023 when the contract is finally loaded. You don't even need to call MS. All you need to do is modify the reservation online and select the 100 point contract instead of the 50 point contract. The system will automatically take those banked points first. The only reason this will work is because the points will have the same home resort advantage and are in the same UY so it's the same membership.

I would book what I can with the 50 points and try to get the 100 loaded ASAP.

You can book with the 50 pter using banked and current points for that reservation and then substitute the current with the banked points in the 100 pt contract. As mentioned you can do it yourself without calling in.

I'll add that since you're good with any resort you'd probably be fine booking that time in April once the new contract loads if it's within a short period after the 7 month mark. SSR and OKW will likely be available and perhaps AKV, VGF and another one or two.

we Are also in the process of buying a resale for the first time, we signed all the paperwork and sent a certified check for the total cost. We were told that it could take 30-60 days to complete, and we would hear from Disney when the points are available for use. I was surprised to see you had a 10 day turnaround! That would be great because we are also hoping to book a May trip and would love to be able to use the 2023 use year points we purchased and avoid borrowing from our 2024 UY current contract!
