Booking 2018 for Run Disney?

I'm trying to help a friend book their Disney trip for Jan to run in a marathon at Disney - she wants to stay in a 2 bedroom villa at BC, OKW, SSR etc She said she heard it's possible to book early through Run Disney - you can't book those villas, right? What should I tell her? Thanks!

She can book those villas. She could also rent DVC points and book those now. BC is hard to come by that weekend though. OKW and SSR do have some availability.

Most DVC everywhere will already be gone for that weekend. It fills up at 11 months.

She can call Disney to make reservations for next year (I believe it's actually for up to something like 499 days?) but the prices will not become set in stone until some time this summer so the rates will be adjusted when that happens. Packages will become bookable online at that time. As @rteetz said, she can also reach out to some of the DVC rental companies and see what is available to rent points for right now and book that way. OKW and SSR should definitely be available- I don't think I've ever seen them not be.

Two years ago we stayed at SSR on cast member rates - not a 2 bedroom, but still. For them to have CM rates, that tells you how not full it was.

BCV is long gone, and I think OKW has holes for marathon already on points.

Cash inventory may exist, but hopefully not for BCV. If DVD traded out a high demand 2BR for marathon, that is pushing things even by DVD standards.

You don't book through runDisney. You call central reservations and can book room-only until packages are released. RD doesn't have its own packages.

Actually they sometimes do. There is something like a "lodging" link on their page. But I don't know if they have DVC stuff for cash basis - and TBH it is usually not the best deal.
