Hi Gang,

May seem like a silly question to some, i have searched for the answer but can't find it.
We're looking at booking 14 night's at the 11 month mark.
I know you can only book 7 day's straight off, what do we do after that?
Is it we have to book a day at a time until we reach what we require?

Regards The Thompsons.

After you have the first 7 nights book you have a choice:
Either book the extra day by calling MS and requesting they add the day to your current reservation each of the next seven days.
Wait until the next 7 day period opens, book that online, then call MS have have the 2 reservation combined into one reservation, if you booked the same size, view, etc.

Another option:
Wait until the 2nd 7 period opens and book all 14 days on one reservation.

Once you make the reservation for the first seven days, you've got the room tied up. You can call on day six to extend it with no risk, then call again the next day to get the last day added. There's no need to call each day.

Someone who does call daily could take the available inventory while you wait for day six to roll around.

That's not true at 11 months. The first day has to be available to book anything past the 11 month mark, and OP would have that tied up. As long as he's one day ahead, there is no way someone else could take that inventory.

At 11 months out that should not happen. The logic goes like this: assume there are 40 2BRs and you reserve 7 nights for one exactly 11 months out. That leaves 39 that can be reserved for the 7 nights you already have. Assume 39 others come in and reserve 7 nights a piece during the following 5 days. None of those 39 can reserve the same room time you have blocked for the 7 nights because they can only reserve if their arrival date is open. So those all take the time applicable to the 39 rooms you do not have. Now assume a 40th other person tries to reserve 6 days after you with a start date 11 months out from his calling date. he should not be able to get a 2BR because his arrival date is blocked off by you and the other 39 and thus he cannot take space in the room you blocked off on the 8th or after nights that you still need. Thus, under that logic, you can reserve seven nights exactly 11 months out and then wait to call and add nights six days after you reserved and still get them.

That of course does not apply to doing anything 7 months out because owners can always block you out using the 11 month window. Also, there is an outside risk you could be waylaid if there is a scheduled rehab of the rooms. For example the BCV rehab for this year was announced during last year. Once it starts there will be some rooms out of service every week. That could mean a different number of rooms could be out in successive weeks. If at 11 months out you attempted to reserve October for 14 nights using the method suggested as to waitng until the sixth day to add the extra week, you could possibly have been blocked out in the example I gave if the rehab schedule shows your second week has more rooms likely to be out of service than your first week.

Thus, under that logic, you can reserve seven nights exactly 11 months out and then wait to call and add nights six days after you reserved and still get them.

I think with the fixed weeks at the GF and the Poly this will no longer hold true for these resorts though.

Since only one-third of the villas can be fixed weeks, I would doubt except in extreme situations, that the OP would not be able to get the second week. In reality all traditional points owners will be competing for at least two-thirds of all the rooms at those resorts plus any fixed weeks that have not been sold. But since none of the VGF weeks has sold all of the maximum allocation, I really think owners will okay. December will be the hardest month to get for the simple reason that so many members want to book those dates and it has the most fixed week sold. DVC points are sold to be used spread out over an entire year, we cannot all try to use them in a single month, but we often do. If the OP is worried about it they can call each day to add a day to their reservation.

Can i add each day to the reservation online, or do i have to call each day?

You cannot modify a reservation yourself. You could book each extra day individually online then at the end email MS and ask them to combine them all. Thats probably how I would do it

Your question has been answered on how to do it but where and what you are booking makes a big difference IMO on what is the best option. If it's a small room category it might be best to book the first 7 and then call to add the rest of your stay, but if it's a larger category room or a slow time then booking it all at once online by waiting until your last day falls withing the 11+7 is the easiest option.

Our home is VGC in a 1bd , I would imagine demand is pretty high, with it being a small DVC resort.

Actually, no. The 1Br's are almost always around for a long time and surprisingly all room times often are available even at 7 months. Unless it involves a race weekend or some other super busy holiday, although I'd be hard pressed to think of a holiday that the 1BR's would book up right away, you can wait the week to book all at once. Actually I'd be hard pressed to think of anytime I'd worry about the 1BR other than a race date or maybe if it was during D23. When are you trying to book for?
