Booking 2 bedroom in July for October trip

Hello all. I just came back from a wonderful 8 nights at AKV Kidani. I always hate leaving Disney, but I was missing my dog, so I was happy to come home to him. Usually I like to have my next trip booked by the time I come back from each trip. But unfortunately, I can't do that yet.

I went to my first Food and Wine Festival last year and loved it! I was really hoping to go again this year, but it all depends on whether I pass this exam that I took in April. They take forever to grade these exams and I won't find out the results until July 8. If I fail, I have to take it again in November. If that's the case, then no Food and Wine Festival for me.

If I do pass my exam, and can go in October, I plan to go with DH, my parents, my sister and maybe a friend or two. We're not picky and would be happy to get a 2 bedroom anywhere (probably for 8 nights) and towards the end of October (I can't go earlier because of work). If I fail, my parents would like to go earlier (like end of September - beginning of October)...and would possibly stay at a 1 bedroom instead of a 2 bedroom. So basically, we have to wait until July 8 to be able to make any plans, since it all depends on my exam. I don't want to jinx anything by making plans any earlier.

Sorry for the long description. Anyways, I was basically wondering what availability would be like for a 2 bedroom in October at just 3 months out? Like I said, we know that October is popular and wouldn't be picky about where we stay. I figure there has to be people here who have booked trips for October at less than 7 months out. When we went last year, we didn't book until May (5 months out). SSR was the only place that had availability for all 7 nights, and who knows how quick those would be gone too. But we also booked a studio and I know those go the quickest. So I'm hoping that it might not be too hard to get a 2 bedroom at 3 months.

My wife and I have a contract at Boardwalk Villas just so that we can go to the Food & Wine each year.

I called last month to try and get a reservation for the first week of October and was surprised to find that nothing was available. I asked for either a Studio or a 1 Bedroom, view or no view, etc.

There was aboslutely zero available rooms at the Boardwalk. The cast member then did a search through all of the DVC resorts and the only rooms available were at SSR. And even then these were disappearing quickly.

The only other option was changing resorts three to four times across the 9 night stay.

Later in the month might be better, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I also started checking in early April for October - all throughout the month - for a 1BR at BLT or BC. No luck except 1 night here and there. Checked on other resorts and OKW and SSR were the only two available. I have 2 little ones so those are just not going to work for me this trip.

i booked a 1 bedroom at VWL for mid Oct just last week. it was for 5 nights consecutive. i wasnt picky and could have gone any dates and would have stayed anywhere in a studio or 1 bedroom, and even done a split, but was super happy that i found all of the nights at my home (and favorite) resort!

i was under the impression that studios and 2 bedrooms book the quickest. but i am a new member, so dont take my word for it.

one thought - i know you mentioned you didnt want to jinx anything, but maybe you could go ahead and book "something" just so you have somewhere to stay. since July will still be more than 30 days away from Oct, you could always cancel. good luck on the booking - and on the test.

I have a wait list active to switch my SSR resort over to BWV in case space opens up. I am not really hopeful that that will happen and the CM seemed even less optimistic about it.

All in all its not really a big deal. I just want to be there and have a place to sleep. Would have been nice to have the short walk, but SSR isn't really that far from EPCOT either.

why can't you try to book something now and if you can't go just cancel unless you need to borrow pts.
