I booked our cruise today for our 15th anniversary in October 2005. We are DVC members and I booked using points. The transaction was a little complicated, as I had to bank and borrow points using two different home resorts. We last cruised on the Eastern in Oct. 2001. After I got off the phone with Member Services, I thought of some questions.

Should I have mentioned our anniversary? Will they do anything special?

I requested late dinner, but wasn't asked about what size table we prefer. Is this just assigned without our input?

She said she would look up our Castaway Club number, then didn't mention it again. Is there still a Castaway Club gift and reception? Do I need to call back about this?

Thanks!

Tell them it is your anniversary and what night you would like to celebrate, they will bring you a cake, also tell them your CC number you will get a towel in your stateroom.
As for table size, unless you request a certain size it is luck of the draw.

Even if you request a certain size table it's still luck of the draw. We requested a table for 4 for our recent Magic cruise, and were seated at a table of 8 with a family of 3. It worked out beautifully though, as our tablemates were GREAT, also DVC members, and my kids were enamored by their 10YO. It actually made dinner enjoyable to eat with other people and have adult conversation, so I wouldn't care either way the next time we sail. Just so you know, there are no tables of 2 at all on DCL, so you'll have to either request a table for 4 and hope you get one alone, or you're most likely going to be sitting with other people.

No sweat :cool1: We are scheduled for our 2nd cruise using our DVC points. We will be celebrating our 25th anniversary and all I did was let them know when I made the DCL ressie of the anniversary :badpc: :rockband: I just called back last week to get a table for 4 to share with 2 other DISer's-Formal name was all we needed. Like someone said it is still the luck of the draw :earboy2: but, like our last cruise I ave called for plenty of advanced notice..Call the DVC number and they will help every way they can :cheer2:

The times we cruised and used points, we had to let them know at Embarkation that we were CC members since nothing was noted. Also, we did tell DVC that it was a significant celebration and nothing was done til we mentioned it to our Head Server the night before the event. Also, for our REAS, things were not handled very well when we used DVC points. Very unsatisfied with it and felt like I always had to "keep checking up on them".
Totally different from when we didn't use points to cruise and everything went smoothly....

Just my experiences,
Rae

When I signed up for the upcoming cruise they would not let us user points for the REAS.. I also checked last week on a medical form which I watched faxed at the doctor office and they said they did not receive it. Sent it out myself last week and now have the fax receipt to show it did go through. Sorry about the misfortune you had on your use of points. James
