Booked two rooms, how do magic bands work?

I've booked two rooms at Pop for my upcoming trip the summer for 5 of my friends. Is it possible for all of us in the group to have access to both rooms with our magic bands? If we can't all have access to both rooms with our magic bands can we get extra room key cards or something at the front desk? Obviously, this wouldn't be an issue if we get connecting rooms, but I've heard that even if we request connecting rooms we might not get it.

I'm going to take a shot on this ...

Disney is pretty good at keeping room occupancy to only those registered in the room - major reasons are revenue stream and fire code.

Unlike some other hotel chains that do not charge for extra adults - Disney absolutely does in most cases (exceptions like family suites, since that is part of the marketing for those rooms)

So, they keep a pretty tight rein on room access.

Everyone in the room is supposed to be on the reservation for that room - they need to insure that you are paying the $25/night/adult over 2 adults/room (deluxe, $15 or $10 in other levels) each for the extra adult in the room - so, they are not giving out extra 'keys' on magic bands or cards

They also need to maintain allowable max occupancy for a room - they will not distribute 5 access media for a room that has a legal occupancy of 4

Disney has a hard 'no guarantee' policy on connecting rooms - they make no exceptions and make no concessions for room access

That being said - no one is stopping you from handing your room access media to another person or opening the door for them.

Your magic band or access card can only be attached to one room.

One more thing is that if someone is not specifically attached to a room - they can only make Fp+ 30 days out vs 60 days for an on-site guest. That is yet one more way Disney forces everyone in the room to be on a reservation - you basically can't ride with your family/friends on 3 pre-planned attractions unless you are a registered guest.

OP, not sure about Pop Century, but when my family books DVC 2 bedroom lock off villas, we are basically booking 2 separate villas - a studio and a 1 bedroom. Disney can give one magic band access to 2 separate rooms, we do it multiple times per year.

If they can't make the magic bands work for 2 Pop rooms, they can give out extra key cards that you can share with your friends.

Not sure what the above post is about - you are clearly under the room capacity for Pop with 6 people in 2 rooms.

The pp means that you can not have 6 people in one room which is essentially what you would be doing to give all 6 people access to both rooms because you would need to list everyone on the room reservation.

Why does everyone need access to both rooms? Why would anyone need to get into the room they're not staying in unless they're with someone who is staying in that room?

Not in my experience.
Last Thanksgiving I booked 2 rooms at POFQ
I was listed in both rooms because at various times of the trip I was staying in both rooms
Room 1 was DH and I, 5 days
Room 2 was Me, DD and DGD, 8 days
When DH left, I moved over to room with DD and DGD
So for the part of the trip when I was in the room with DH, my band opened that door. When he left my band opened the other door
My band could not open both rooms during the time we had both rooms

In the past, I know they have provided KTTW cards which would act only as room keys for the second room so someone listed as staying in room #1 could access room #2. They would not be concerned about maximum occupancy in this case as there are 2 rooms booked for a total of 6 people. It's not as though the OP is trying to cram 6 people into one room and get enough key cards for everyone.

But I do not think it can be done so everyone's magic band will open both rooms. It would have to be done with separate key cards.

ETA: usually the situation when they would do this would be for a family larger than 4. One parent would be registered in each room with the kids split between the two rooms. They would make sure that the parents would be able to access both rooms.

My son and his wife stayed at Pop last summer and they had no trouble getting a key card for my other son who was not staying in their room. They had a King room, so having a 3rd person would have put them over the occupancy limit for the room but that didn't seem to factor in to them getting the key card. DS#1 just went to the front desk and asked for the key card. No one batted and eye or asked why he wanted it. DS#2 was not going to be staying in their room, just using it for showering and a changing place one afternoon.

I also had friends who stayed at AKL (standard rooms) a few months ago. It was a family of 4 (parents and 2 toddlers) traveling with one set of grandparents. They requested connecting rooms but didn't get them. They had no trouble getting key cards for each others rooms so that the grandparents could take the kids back to their (the kids) room and put them to bed on nights that the parents wanted to stay out late. I don't know if they explained the situation to the front desk or if they just asked for the keys and got them.

I didn't even think about the whole occupancy thing. I was thinking more about sharing bathrooms and sometimes some of us will sleep in while others wake up early for rope drop so those who wake up early can all be in one room while the sleepers can sleep undisturbed. When I went to the beach a few years with my family we had two rooms and we all ended up with room keys to both rooms and it was really nice.

I would just get the plastic cards for whoever is in the other rooms, if it would make it easier. In our case, we had connecting rooms so we didn't need a card to get in to each others rooms. We left the doors open between.

Can't do it. Only the names on the reservations can get in that room. Now, if you have adjoining rooms with the pass through door, then you could, but you'd have to go into your room first.

When we book two rooms, all magic bands work on both rooms. No issues.
What do you request to accomplish this? I specifically requested for all of our bands to work both rooms last November. I was told it was not possible. I dropped it since they were connecting but if it were to come up again and we didn't get connecting it would be great to pursue the issue and get them to fix it so they can

I'm curious also. We've been told twice now that it was not possible. We just ended up requesting, and receiving, key cards for each room which worked fine. But would have been nice if our MBs could have worked.
