Booked to see Journey in Edinburgh

We're all set - second row seats at the Edinburgh Playhouse to see Journey on 2nd June. Have just booked BA flights and we will be staying here.

Looking forward to a nice weekend in Edinburgh!

Thanks! I've been before, but dh hasn't, so not sure whether or not we'll do the Castle. We will arrive around 11am on the Friday (the day of the concert). By the time we've reached our accommodation and had some lunch, we probably won't have too much time before we'll be thinking about getting ready for the concert.

We will have all day on Saturday for sight-seeing, so any suggestions will be welcomed. We'll probably want to hit some bars in the evening. We love eating out, too, so we'd appreciate some recommendations.

On Sunday, we will probably check out late, go for some lunch and then we'll have a couple of hours before we need to make our way to the airport. Ideas for lunch would be great, too.

They're only doing a couple of venues (Edinburgh and Manchester). The rumour mill suggests that's due to a clause in their contract with the Monsters of Rock Festival (Milton Keynes) where they're also appearing. It'll be interesting to see if they do add any more UK dates. I think the current two are sold out - the tickets are already going for silly money on eBay!

I'd recommend the sightseeing bus which you can hop on and off at various venues or a walking tour of the royal mile starting at the castle and walking down to Holyrood palace. There are lots of museums including Mary Kings close (the city under the city) to visit on the way.

Food wise on the day of the concert I can recommend the chinese buffet at the Omni centre next to the playhouse or another on waverley bridge or Guiallianos or Ferri's restaurant (both Italian)across from the playhouse.

If you are looking for a 'posher' restaurant the musuem of Scotland has a restaurant which has had rave revues. There is also a restaurant which specialises in Scottish dishes (ie Haggis, Aberdeen Aungus steaks etc) .
