Not sure what to do..booked at POP because the price was considerably cheaper and being from Canada, the exchange rate is quite awful. However, we have stayed at POR in the past and absoutely LOVED it. This time we are considering CBR (I hope that is the right acronym for Caribbean Beach).

I am a little worried about the room sizes and the pool in particular at POP. We are myself, DH, DS (13) and DD (9).

Note that we are only staying 5 nights with one day at MK and one day at BB. The other 2 full days we are going to spend relaxing at the pool, resort hopping, and Disney Springs shopping. So the intention is to spend a good amount of time at the resort.

The price difference is about 40/night but with the exchange rate is closer to 57/night.

Can anyone kindly provide any insight to help me decide? I have 6 more days to decide before my PIN code expires.

Thanks so much!!

Personally, we liked POP more than we liked CBR, but we were there as a family of four with 3 and 5 year old girls.

With your kids being older and of opposite sex, will they want to share a bed? The only plus to CBR is that you could get one of the rooms that sleep 5 and therefore, have an extra sleep surface in the room.

I LOVE CBR!! It is my Disney home!!

That said, I am currently booked at POP for my August trip at the moment and will stay there...unless my tax refund will cover the difference. Then I will move to CBR.

We've never stayed at Pop (or any of the values), but we loved everything about CBR! The grounds were beautiful, the pool was nice (and each village has its own quiet pool), the food court was great with a lot of variety, and the buses were great (even with the multiple stops within the resort). CBR would be my choice without hesitation, especially if you are planning a lot of resort time. If the extra cost is doable, I'd go with CBR. Good luck!

We love Pop too and just booked for our next trip. We are hopping to have the time to check out AoA while we are there. We did consider going to CBR but all they have left is Pirate rooms which also has Full size beds. So we decided Pop.

Thanks all! I think I am going to upgrade - we want to chill and read and the CBR looks perfect for that. Plus, the pull out bed is a plus. Not that we don't think POP looks great - it does but I think we would apt to stay there when we go back for full on parks days.

So excited! Thanks again!! :yay:

I think you'll have a great time! :goodvibes

I think you'll be happy with your choice :) I love just sitting on a lounger or in a hammock on the beach watching the ducks. I also don't find it as chaotic a place as Pop even during the morning rush hour at the food court. The pools areas are nicer and they have hot tubs too. I know there is lots and lots of love for Pop, but I really don't like that resort. I've stayed there twice and both times were not a great experience.

I vote for CBR, not only because I love love love it there, but because you are doing a couple of resort days.
CBR is very quiet feeling, with hammocks, and picnic areas, beautiful pool (best of the mods, and FAR better than pops), evening marshmallow roasts, nighttime movies. All these amenities are not as highly attended as pops (ie: moves have fewer folks with fewer youngsters).
I also love:
2 sinks
Door between sink area and bedroom
More square footage
Queen beds (new ones this year)
Ceiling fans
Nice restaurant if you would like TS
Much more peace and quiet
IMHO CBR is worth every extra nickel, especially if you're planning resort days!

The lack of queen beds and the smaller room size are enough to keep us away from the values. CBR is a great resort for kicking back and relaxing, and I think your kids will love the feature pool. And try Shutters for dinner one night. It's good.

I would go with POR if you are planning on visiting Disney Springs. The boat ride over is so much nicer than the bus you would have to take from CBR.

I am so bummed out - CBR is booked for the days we are going unless we want a Pirate room which would push our budget out too much. Oh well, everything happens for a reason I guess! Thanks for the feedback!

Have you considered any of the other moderate resorts? POR would be my first choice, but CSR has a great pool area. The slide at CSR is the longest of any of the moderates.

Pirate rooms are the absolute farthest from everything and they are full beds. I've stayed in them, never again.

Just stayed at POP on Monday. We stayed for 1 night, dd started the DCP program. It was fine.

Just a basic room. I did online check in and said we would be arriving at 7:30. On our way in from the interstate, they texted to say the room was ready.

I have only been able to check in that early once before, we were switching resorts and our room was ready at AOA.

So for that POP gets a :thumbsup2

Pop is nice because you can enjoy walking over the bridge and exploring another resort, Art of Animation. The AoA pool would be off limits though. Of course I would have to vote for POR because I love it. But 200 bucks in your pocket would buy those Blizzard Beach tickets! Decisions Decisions..... There is no wrong choice because, Hey! It's Disney World, so it's all good!

Were you looking online or booking by phone? I've noticed a couple of threads over the last couple of days saying there was a problem with the resorts section if the website, and people couldn't find availability anywhere for any date. Maybe try again by phone.

Did you check Orbitz? Sometimes they have rooms when Disney says it is "sold out" and many times you can add an additional discounts on top of Disney prices.
