Well, we're finally booked for BCV Nov. 7-14 in a two BR...our very first DVC trip! My husband jokingly asked last night, "have you started packing yet?"...very funny.

I do have a couple of questions which I've asked but am still grappling with:

-Is that a pretty good time of year to go?

-We'll be traveling with my parents and our 3 and 5 year olds. Should we ask for a dedicated or lock-down or is it a tossup?

-Still can't decide on the view as everyone seems to have a different preference (each with valid points)...should we ask for a particular view or just go with what they give us for our first trip?

I swear, now that we're booked, I'll quit asking the same questions over and over again and put it to rest for awhile

:p

I do have to say that in speaking with Member Services and a "Replacement Rep" since ours is on vacation this week, I am extremely impressed with the level of service we've received from everyone we've spoken with. I feel like they all genuinely want "my" vacation to be the best it can be!

Thanks again!

We took friends with us a year ago and we booked a 2 bed lockoff in OKW. We decided on this because the lockoff meant that our friends had their own entrance and mini kitchen. I think it is good for everyone to have their own space first thing in the morning. By having their own kitchen they could get up when they wanted without waking us up and vise a versa. Also it meant that they could come back as late as they wanted. We all had young children which played very well together, but it was nice to be able to seperate them from time to time!

Your parents may like the fact that they have their own space and be connected to the larger unit. It gives you more options when you are on holiday. Also I think the 2nd bedroom in the dedicated has two beds, whereas the lockoff is a studio. If your parents are using that they may appreciate the extra room.

Your right about the view, we have had the Epcot view and the garden view. Both were great, I just prefered the peace of the garden view. I always ask for a top floor non smoking. You are certain to get some kind of view from the top floor.

Debbie -

November is a great time to go to Disney. Warm enough to enjoy swimming in the pool, but not extremely hot like in summer or early fall.

There is really no difference between a lock-off and a dedicated two-bedroom. Don't worry about that.

As far as the view is concerned, since it opened last summer, we have stayed at the BCV twice, for a total of nearly 3 weeks, and we like the side of the building that faces the quiet pool. Many prefer the other side, but we feel that the 5th floor, facing the quiet pool, is the most pleasant. It is quiet and we can see anyone from our family who is in the pool. During our trip last week, we were in room 554 and loved it. Clean and mostly everything was in order.

You will have a great time. Don't let the little things bother you. Occasionally, there will be little things that will come that could disturb your day, but ignore them. You will be in the best accomodations, in the best place in the world. My children are now older, but we have been to Disney on 19 occasions. I really love the memory of being with my children at Disney when they were as young as yours. Have a great time and take lots of pictures!

hi: can't help you with the view since we haven't stayed at bcv yet. we'll be there (ladies only trip) 11/9-11/13 in a 2 br at bwv so maybe we'll see you. this is a great time to go-the food and wine festival at epcot are wonderful. your kids will probably love stormalong bay. the "sand" in the bottom is really neat. have a wonderful trip and don't stress! Enjoy!

That's a GREAT time of year to go! We went "home" our first time last year at the beg of November. We also stayed in a 2BR and brought my mom (so it was mom, me, DH, and DD7, DS3). We had a dedicated 2 BR but I'm pretty certain that it was 1 bed and 1 sleeper sofa in the 2nd bedroom. DD slept on the sofabed in grandma's room, DS slept "in the kitchen" as he put it.

We didn't ask for anything since I didn't feel I knew enough. We had a groundfloor unit at the end of a building near the parking lot. I actually liked the location a lot - it was a close walk to the bus, car, quiet pool.

I'm thinking of requesting a pool or courtyard view for next trip; I figure it is unlikely I'd get an Epcot view worth having, so may as well ask for something a little safer.

As far as your question about dedicated vs. lockoff: if your parents intend to go out by themselves at night or early a.m. (so after kids go to bed or before they are up) then maybe a lockoff is better. Otherwise, probably doesn't matter much.

okay where are your kids sleeping in the 2nd bedroom - get the dedicated - in the livingroom - with your parents in the 2nd bedroom get the lock-off.

may sure your children know where you will be - show them the master bedroom - so even if the door is closed they know you are there.

VIews I really loved the Epcot view - but the pool view is nice too - however I have learned the hard way if you don't ask for a view you generally don't get one.

I won't hurt to ask and you just might get lucky and get it - this is your first reservation! That is if you want to look out on Spaceship Earth - everyone is different!

Hi Deb, we'll be there 11/8 - 11/16. Our first time going home as well. My daughter is 9 and my son will be 5. Maybe we'll see you at the pool.

Hi Sue,

My 4 year old dd (she'll be 5 when we go) has been asking for a "big sister" lately (i guess a little brother just isn't the same thing : ) Bet she'll love meeting your 9 year old dd!

Maybe we'll see you there :p

Thanks everyone for your comments...they really help!

I am going to guess that you and DH are sleeping in the master bedroom, kids in the livingroom on the pull out and your parents in the second bedroom. If that's the case, I'd get a lock-out, because then your parents would have their own little kitchenette for making coffee in the AM without having to come into the main living/diningroom area and risk waking your kids. It also gives your parents the ability to stay out later in the evening than you do and not risk walking through the main living/diningroom area of the unit, and again, risk waking your kids.

If you and DH are planning to stay in the 2nd bedroom with your kids, and give your parents the master bedroom, I would request a lock-off, because then you'll have 2 queen beds, as opposed to a queen bed and a pullout couch.

Basically, I think I'd request a lock-off.:)

As far as view, I never worry much about view as I don't send a lot of time looking out the window, and every view is interesting in its own way. We stayed at WL once on a REAL bargain rate and had a view of the smokehouse in the back. Not a beautiful view, but very interesting to watch the goings-on back there!!!!!!

The last time we were there we had a 1st floor room with a view of the quiet pool, and it was great because we could go out our patio doors, run through the grass and be at the pool and hot tub...a beautiful thing!!!!!:D
