Booked again 18th July~11th August :goodvibes

Decided to try use some airmiles as we had so many.

Initially I was looking at economy both ways, found Virgin Outbound for £171.59 + 12.5k miles. Delta back via JFK for £3.20 + 60k miles. Total £174.59pp

Then looked at upgrades and this is what we have booked, Virgin PE outbound (A330) Delta back, 1st leg to JFK exit row with extra legroom, 2nd leg to MAN Economy Comfort & Exit row.
Total cost £780.97, breaks down to £260.32pp + 25k VA miles & 60k Delta miles

Used loads of miles but they were sat doing nothing, on the full price quotes I was getting the miles have probably saved us over £2,500:cloud9:

Surely this wont be your only trip for next year??? Do we all have to wait that long for your wonderful trip reports?

The only time we can fit another in before summer is next month, Oct half term (7 or 8 nights) after that Matt has to concentrate on his A levels, exams start in Jan, finals in June. Any time he is available like Feb half term or Easter I am busy in the shop with Valentines day and Easter trade so its very difficult.
I am looking for next month, just not willing to pay the prices they are asking, if a bargain pops up we will be off:thumbsup2

I am looking for next year to use my miles I currently have 21,000 myself. I am never good at working out the miles.

Any ideas Wayne for a cheap way for next August with Virgin - did you do this online or ring them?

I did it all online, bit of a nightmare, took over a hour to do the Delta booking as I had to do each one seperate using 3 accounts for 60k miles each. Virgin was easier as I just used 75k miles from my account.

21k is not quite enough, I considered booking a roundtrip economy flight using teh new Combi fare system
http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/frequentflyer/spendmiles/rewardflights/combifares.jsp
If I read it correctly you would need 25k miles (plus tax & fees) for one way then pay half the round trip fare for the other leg, I totalled it up to £620.94 + 25k for our dates instead of £1,067.29 they are asking.
Just now they are offereing 15% off buying miles so the 4,000 you would need would cost Total Cost: £66.00. If I have my figures correct the £1,067.29 fare would cost you £686.94.
You can only do the Combifares by phone so you would need to ring and confirm prices first before accepting, I might have it wrong and different dates will be different prices. Also dependant on a reward seat being available on one of the legs for your dates.

Other that that your only other option is Miles and Money, not great saving in August, still too high IMO.

Sorry ignore that, I am getting mixed up, you only need 12.5k miles for a Combifare just now, its 25k for a return fare. You have enough, if you find a date with availability might be worth ringing to check the cost.

I also get more points from next months flight. Might look at September for next year and try to get flights for just fees and taxes after we come back in November:thumbsup2

Thanks Wayne

Though DD's boyfriend is coming with us next year and is brother works for Virgin. Apparently he is seeing if he can get us free flights, but I dont believe it is that simple. :confused3

Great news mate - and what a bargain. :thumbsup2
The good news is now your all booked up you got loads of spare time to find me some bargains :rotfl2:

I have my eyes open. Half my days are spent searching flights, this week I must have spent at least 15 hours just looking for flights. At least ours are done, now have more time to help others.
Still would like a last minute deal for next month :rotfl:

Im sure you will find a bargain for next monthfrom somewhere :thumbsup2, We need to make sure our trips overlap next year so we can all do hoop again.

I am trying Mango vodka for the 1st time, must be the best I have ever tasted. Glad I booked the flights earlier or we could have ended up anywhere in the world next year. Cruise prices are not too bad, we enjoyed Royal Caribbean, something to think about.:goodvibes

Yeah its a possibility, we have probably been spoiled with the dream but speak to Nige se what he thinks about a 4 dayer on royal caribbean :thumbsup2

:scared1::scared1::scared1: - Whatever next? - You will be going to watch the Albion! :lmao:.....and while you at it.....get your outdated ticker sorted :rolleyes1

Not sure about a cruise next year.........Castaway Cay day is the highlight for us, and ideally would like to do a 'double dipper', but dates are not suitable.
May have a look at a ride on the Fantasy the following year.

Yes OKW, enjoy more each time we go :thumbsup2

RCCL's island is also very nice, Coco Cay. Not as good as CC but I can't pay Disney prices next year. Dates work OK for us to do the Double dip at CC from 5th Aug for 5 days but at £2338 its about double price I would pay. That is for inside cabin as we had before.
RCCL only 4 nights but Outside cabin £800

I'm not jealous, really I'm not!! I really want to book for next year, but I think that DH wants to go to CA to see his family, so it looks like it will be DL for us!

That's great that you've got such good prices! :thumbsup2 I guess that I'm going to have to start looking at prices for San Fran! :goodvibes
