Today I booked our July flights from Detroit to Orlando for $197 each including fees.
I am always happy if I pay at least under $200. My record was $135 right after 9/11.
I know some people will think I'm silly for not falling prey to the "ding-mania". But I had to be realistic. One, I work from 7-3 each day (I am at home now because DD#1 is ill). I am not allowed to download anything onto the school computer. And I am also blocked from the DIS (no message boards allowed) so I couldn't check here to see what dings had come up. In the meantime, this sweet fare for a non-stop was just sitting out there. It has already gone up $10, which means $50 for my family. We like non-stops, we like the idea of knowing our seats when we go to the airport, etc. None of that would be possible getting SWA out of Detroit. I don't have time for those games.
Anyhow, we leave at 6:40 am, get to Orlando by 9:18! Hopefully to the Polynesian by 10:15 or 10:30, and then on departure day we don't leave until 6:55, so we get some good park time on that last day!

You are in the same boat as us. We're looking at either Flint or Detroit, but I have a lot of time until December. But I get your point. You just can't sit there and wait and wait for the most "great" deal. I like to get my airfare early and don't have to worry about them.

Have a question. Do you fly Southwest alot and how far in advance do they let you book? We're going in December. Also, you can arrange for your seat assignments when your booking? Thanks!!!!
