Booked Mother's Day in error, should I cancel?

My DH and I go away each year for a weekend without the kids. I was looking at the calendar today and realized that Mother's Day is a week earlier than I thought it was. We will be there May 6-9 and now I wonder if I should change my weekend.

Am I being a bad mom for not staying home that weekend? It will cost me $50 to change the airfare and we are DVC memebers so the resort is not a problem. I thought that I would take the $50 and give it to my mom, who is child sitting, and tell her to go out to breakfast or dinner on Mother's Day.

I would talk to your mom. I'd be more concerned about her feelings than your kids. How will she feel about you not being with her on Mother's Day?

Celebrate Mother's Day the weekend before you go. My sister was at the parks last year and said it was pretty dead for that time of year - so I would go if I could on my oroginal dates.

Make sure it wont cause a family riff. Mother's day means different things to different people. To me, its not the day, its the being together. Maybe your mom feels the same way and will be happy to do it some other time. Your children will be just fine as long as you are.

As far as Mother's Day at the Parks. I have been there a few times. There is no impact from crowds that I could see. Some restaurants may be crowded but I didn't notice. I have seen CM's giving out a flower to all ladies entering the parks.

How old are your kids? Will they be upset if you are not there for mother's day? Do they have something planned for you?

As far as crowds, I think you will see big crowds this year. The 50th celebration starts May 5. That weekend will probably be a big one.
