Booked GTY and Already Assigned A Room

Just a quick question here....

When DU sent me the quote on our upcoming cruise, they had us listed as a Cat 9 GTY. When we paid the deposit, and received our confirmation (2 days later), they had us assigned to a cabin number. Is that normal? I thought you normally didn't get cabin assignments until you received your docs (not that I am complaining or anything, but I was really hoping for the upgrade!).

How far away is your cruise? We booked GTY11 and got our cabin assignment about 60 days out. There is still hope for an upgrade!

We are crusing on 11/26/05 Eastern, so we are almost 5 months out. I may still upgrade at the port, but not before then. (Yes, I know that there is no pattern to upgrades, but one can hope).

You can get a room assignment at any time -- could be right away, or any time until the day of the sailing.

A guarantee room doesn't mean you'll get an upgrade (tho it does happen!)
