Hi.....I booked our first cruise, for 6/24/06 Special Itinerary today through Costco. The travel insurance was higher than I expected....there are 5 of us; two adults and 3 kids sharing adjoining Cat 8s. Travel insurance was about $250 for the 3 of us in one room and about $200 for the 2 of us in the other. I thought I had seen average prices at about $49/person when there are 5 or more. Did I misunderstand something? Do these travel insurance costs seem right? The Costco guy indicated they get their travel insurance through the recommended DCL company, so I wouldn't expect much variation.

Thanks!

I never use the cruise company's insurance plan. A good place to get prices and comparison's is at www.insuremytrip.com. I've used travelex and I know others that ahve used travel guard. The site also gives you a side by side comparison (car rental insurance, medical insurance, etc). Good luck!

I may be wrong, but I think the ins. rates vary by legnth of cruise, so if yours is longer than usual, the rates could be higher. I second the motion to check www.insuremytrip.com. There are options that are much cheaper than the cruise line's policies, and some that may provide broader (or narrower) coverages if you need/want them.

We also booked w/ Costco, and so far are very pleased!
