Booked Cruise w/Incentive Voucher!

I agree. You certainly feel slighted by the stipulations. It's almost like they didn't want to give you the promo but only did so because of the economy to boost sales. They certainly could make it a lot more accomodating by forgoing the guaranteed room status and late dining and allow existing rsvp to be transferred. It would not have cost them anything ane make it work for more families, and possibly get more sales.

The comment, "remember, you didn't have to buy points," misses the point. I'm sure the majority of us planned to buy points before this promo came up. How often have you thought you have gotten a tax deduction from the govt. but later found out you didn't qualify? Why have the promo when most of the DVC'ers can't use it.

If it was only myself going on the cruise I wouldn't have any problems because normally room placement and dining time doesn't matter to me.

Our Nov cruise has 22 of us going and all the other 7 cabins were linked to my reservation, so having to cancel and rebook is a pain in the neck. These cabins have been booked since March 2008 and we're all together on deck 6, midship with early dining. My biggest concern is I'm the one who put together the group trip and I could be in a different dining time then the rest of my family & friends, when I already had the early dining since last March. It seems like they could be a little more accommodating on the dining.

The cruise isn't why I add-on, it just came with it. This will be the first cruise for all 22 of us, so we're very excited!

Exactly!

We would have bought the points anyway, but it would be nice not to have all these stipulations that we weren't expecting with the incentives that they did offer us.

Will someone please tell me how long it took for them to receive the voucher from the time they signed the contract?

Just wondering, as I am one of those obsessive, compulsive over-planners! I can't wait to book my "free" cruise! I really want to find out how much it's going to cost to updgrade to a Cat4 with our 9month old being the fifth person. Just sad about the late dining. :sad2:

I'm still waiting for my voucher, our estimated closing date is Mar 10th so I don't expect it until after that. I was able to call DCL anyway to ask about the upgrade info.

We have 2 adults and a 2 yr old and the upgrade for us on the 4 night cruise was $100 per guest regardless of age.

Has anybody upgraded from the 3 day cruise to the 7 day cruise? I'm wondering how much they will charge to do this.

My understanding is that you cannot change the length of the cruise, just the accomodations. If you want a longer cruise you have to buy more points.

Their advertising definately says you can increase the length of the cruise too. I just my Disney Files today, and it had a flyer with the free cruise promo in it. It mentions this in the fine print.

Thanks for verifying. I figured that. I'm guessing/hoping that to upgrade to a Cat4 (Five person room with verandah), it will be the upgrade fee ($175pp for 7night cruise) plus the cost of the fifth person. In our case, our fifth person is a 9month old, so usually there is no charge except the port fees and taxes.

Anyone done this yet?

Very interesting - I see that - yet the offer we got at the Doorway to Dreams promotion in the closing documents does not allow for that - only upgrades to the stateroom and number of passengers. There were different cruise lengths based on how many points were purchased - the three night cruise was for 100 points, as in the Disney Files offer, the 4 night was for 160 points I think and a 7 nights was for 200 points, which is what we got. So, I suppose there is no upgrading the length from a 7 night, which may be why it is not allowed in the closing documents. I can downgrade, but get nothing for it.

dr&mom to2boys...I am surprised it says you can increase the length of the cruise. On the back on my voucher it states, "Cruise length cannot be increased." It also says "Members choosing to decrease party size, stateroom accommodations, or length of cruise at the time of reservation may do so, but will not receive any credit back. Cruises canceled by a Member cannot be rescheduled." As seems to often happen with DVC, it appears these are two conflicting statements. I would think the one on the voucher is what they will be going with, but who knows.

Has anyone asked DCL about increasing the length of the cruise yet?

I haven't received my voucher yet, but I was looking at the flyer that came with the magazine this week. I guess I'll call when I get my voucher and see what they say. :)

We bought our BLT add-on when we were there on February 5. We got our voucher on February 27. A day or two before getting it, we got a call identified as DCL on caller ID, and they asked to verify our address. I guess it's because we have both FL and MD listed. The person never said it was for the voucher, but it came almost immediately after the call.

Wow! That's pretty fast. Now I'm hopeful that we'll get ours soon.

When I called DCL about using the voucher for our Nov 15th cruise I was told I could upgrade the 4 night cruise for $100 per person (same price for adults/children) from Cat 9 to Cat 6. It's only a guarantee room no specific cabin and your automatically put into Late seating for dining.

DCL suggested that once I receive our voucher I should book our cabin using the voucher as a Cat 6 guarantee and then cancel my original reservation with our TA. CM told me DCL will make an attempt at getting us as close as possible to our group.

The rest of my group of 22 is in early dining so I get to hope DCL will move us (3) to the early seating to join them. DCL can't guarantee it, but they said they will try.

I've had 3 cabins booked since last March with 4 others cabins linked to my reservation so I'll need to move my DS & DDIL into our cabin as it was one of our connecting cabins with all the linked reservations.

The joys of a free cruise!:headache: :upsidedow

Update...

I booked our cruise this morning and the CM I had was great. She pulled up our existing reservation and used the info to book the new one, she linked up all other travel mates and gave us early dining. I'm one very happy camper! :yay: :yay: :yay:

They must of worked out some kinks compared to the info I was given on March 2nd.

I was able to book our 4 day cruise on March 2nd using the voucher. We upgrade to add a 5th person. We are doing the Thanksgiving day cruise. To add the 5th person with the full fair $ and the upgrade for the rest of us was about $1200. I was told we would be booked for the late dining and put on a wait list for main dining. I was disappointed with that. My kids are 3/6. 8:30 dinner....not a good mix for anybody involved. I just called and asked about main dining and I got it!:cool1: Now to find a cheap flight!

I'm glad DCL was able to get you the early dining choice mmcculloch.
