I was doing my nightly check on flights and found late August WestJet flights from YYZ at a "reasonable" rate (I saw some $139 fares but while confirming dates I found little availability so I'm editing this post).

Booked MCO-YYZ one way at $159 and bit the bullet on YYZ-TPA for $189 ($470 return taxes in - I was hoping to get $400).

Travel prices are continually changing so I now set "acceptable" ranges and options so I'm ready to book before I refresh a webpage.

We are going in August as well :goodvibes . Our first time visiting Orlando in the summer.....our previous two trips have been in early January.

We purchased our tickets in January (just after we returned from our most recent getaway.....what can I say, this Florida thing is a sickness :rotfl: ). Flying out of Syracuse, NY (which we love...the airport is so small and so easy to navigate, and an easier drive for us than the commute to Toronto) our tickets were $868 taxes in (3 people). Both flights are direct via Jetblue, and include one free checked bag per person, free seat selection on booking, and free snacks.

We have been watching flights go up, up, up since we booked. Current prices for the same flights would total $1345 at last check :scared1: .

Haven't looked at the Syracuse route before but that sounds like a really good price for an August trip.

We are only 70kms from Toronto on the 401 but only ever use YYZ if we are travelling to the UK. We always fly from DTW now and find that even with the extra drive and hotel + parking it is still good value for money. We have flights end of May 3 adults (DS now 12:sad2:) + 1 child and it was $1000 return including taxes.

Next time I will have to remeber the other route -who flies out of Syracuse?:surfweb:

I booked Air Tran last month for end August and it was less than 1K for 4 of us. I checked y/day and the one flight going out was up to 250 each. Glad I booked when I did.

We booked Southwest for Oct 14-20 and the cost was just under $800 for 3 of us. I tried for Westjet but they don't fly that time of year from Hamilton and was close to $2000 with Air Canada and subsidaries.

Same for us! We booked Delta for Aug = $850 and yes Air Canada was $2100!!:wizard:

Cancelled the WestJet flight last night (full refund within 24 hours of booking) and rebooked with Air Canada ($430pp taxes in - base fare $310).

Only bad part about AC now is that $25 per bag per person charge....sometimes makes things with West Jet seem more equal epwhen you consider the charge.

I'd be worried about all the job actions taken by AC pilots etc. Another bunch of pilots calling in sick?

We are going in August too and booked with Jetblue out of Syracuse and paid $1200 for the 5 of us and that's with direct flight. That being said, from YYZ for under $500 is not bad at all.

For me, I was looking at $90 (6x$15) seat reservation each way with WestJet - flying with in-laws I really need the peace of mind that at minimum they are together and DW is with both children ($180 is not worth the stress - even $1000 savings I could get from AirTran is not worth it :rotfl:).

If anyone looking, AirTran has direct flights BUF-MCO for $251 taxes in ($126 base) 8/13-20.

I wouldn't fly with AC if someone paid me to! With all their issues & cancelling flights I'd be too worried that my flight would be cancelled. I'm surprised anyone flies AC, they seem to always have some problem going on with their unions & don't give a crap about the people they leave stranded.

That's a great rate! What are your dates (are you flying mid-week?) and when did you book your tickets?

Based on some of the high prices being chatted about on the Transportation board, I thought we were doing well at $289 pp return, direct both directions and including all taxes and fees. Your $240 pp is enviable :worship: .

We got $289 as well & we are flying midweek (Tues-Wed).

Our flights are Sunday-Sunday. I would have thought that the mid-weeks would have been a savings over the weekend. But lol, what do I know? :upsidedow

Sounds like there are a few of us spending some family fun time in Orlando during the month of August! I am happy to have some company........every single person I've chatted with about our upcoming getaway has been nothing but negative. "Didn't you know that's hurricane season?", "Geez, you couldn't have picked a hotter place to go, could you?", and "You're going back AGAIN? Aren't there other places you would like to visit?". Thank goodness for my comrades here on the Canadian forum!

We're actually heading there mid-sept, but pretty sure it's just as hot as Aug & we've been in July before & thank goodness for the pools! & yes it's hurricane season, but we're in orlando, not Cuba :)

Don't let them get you down! It happens to me ALL the time. August is wonderful! Hot, long hours, lots of people, but the if you know what you're doing you'll get on lots of rides... and more shows!

These prices everyone is getting are great. I wish I had more options. I keep looking at flights and the highest I've paid is $550. If I wanted to go in August (cause I am thinking about it!) it was over $800 the other day, but they're on sale now for around $625. Yesterday anyways, might be gone now.

So happy to hear some positive feedback about August trips!!!! :goodvibes We are super excited.

No parks for us this getaway.......we have decided to do something a little different. So far, we have purchased tickets for Aquatica (we have unlimited weekday passes, and have booked a cabana for one day), Gatorland, an airboat tour, go-karting passes, a dinner show (Outta Control Comedy Show) and mini golf at Volcano Island. We want to enjoy some R&R at the resort (and all their amenities, from mini golf to fishing to paddle boats) and of course, do lots of shopping! :cloud9: The prospect of standing in line for rides at the parks in the heat and humidity just doesn't appeal.....so we plan to spend this trip in our swimsuits :thumbsup2 .

We did SeaWorld, Discovery Cove, Univeral Studios and Island of Adventure in January, and all four Disney parks in January 2009, so this vacation we wanted to be another totally different experience yet. The plans continue to evolve....so who knows what will be added on before we leave!

Fingers crossed you find yourself some great flight prices. Booking everything else seems very easy after the flights are taken care of!!!
