Booked at POP...upgrade to CBR or ...

We are going to POP Oct 4 to the 14 but I am thinking about upgrading to a mod. For under $400 we could stay (just DH and myself) at CBR or POR. Is it worth it and if yes which resort?

Ugh, no. IMHO, stick with Pop!

We tried CBR one year because of free dining and it has honestly turned us off of moderates. We may go back and try POFQ at some point but not anytime soon.

We loved our stay at Pop! Great food court, great buses, fun theme!

CBR was very spread out. You will get others who will say its over exaggerated, however, we were in Barbados and we are fit people...but after walking in the parks all day with a then 3 and 5 year old dragging behind, it took 10 minutes to get to the OPR to fill our mugs and get a snack...and then 10 minutes back. CBR is also the only place I have ever experienced housekeeping/maintenance issues at WDW. We have no desire to stay there again. We still had a great trip, but not because of CBR.

We haven't stayed at POR but I hear the layout is similar.

POP on the other hand....we'd stay there again!!!

I've stayed at POP and it's a great resort. Kids love POP, but in my opinion POR is the way to to go. We love POR. Especially for an adults trips

POR is very easy to get around. we stayed in the newly refurbed arcadian and i found it to be pretty close to the main building and pool. I love POR. Gorgeous lush grounds, great food court, bike rentals, TS restaurant, love the boat to dtd....super convenient. Id def pick POR over CBR.

If adults only trip, definitely POR/POFQ........

I see you stayed CSR before last yr. You may be disappointed goin back to value. Any TS will be away from your resort.

The values are very kid themed and designed for kids. Helps with limited budgets and kids who just wanna have disney fun. They care less about TS food options etc...Beds are not comfy to us !!!! we will never stay value again. Its just not us.........(not being a snob because we are far far from that)


WE stayed at POFQ as 2 adults for a couple of days on our last trip and really thought it was nice. Jazz bar, carraige rides, lush vegetation, river, romantic on nightly walks.

POR is alot bigger than POFQ and hence alot more people and walking but thought it was very nice also.



And you can use both resorts facilities.. POFQ is the first bus stop....thats a big plus. they share no buses with other resorts. For $400 more it would be a no brainer for us. You wont regret it. besides all new comfy queen beds, bedding and refurb.

PS when we leave the parks we like to be just a bit less disney "in ya face" relax time...lots of places to just sit and relax at POR/FQ.

PSS... CBR is still double beds that need upgrading soon. CBR seems dated to us for some reason. just didnt get the great feel we look for. Besides alot of sports and tourgroups use CBR if that makes any difference.

I'd upgrade to POR. Queen beds, boat to DTD, and good food choices or CBR if you can book a king room since they still have double beds

Ummm... YES do the upgrade! We are going the same time (me and DH) and are staying at POFQ - our favorite resort. POR is really spread out and its quite a hike to the main bldg, but the resort is beautiful and romantic. We've stated at CS once about 13 yrs ago for a weekend, it was ok. I like them all better than POP. My DH and I go once a year w/o the kids and POP wasn't worth it to us. It's very kid oriented (which we loved) but for an adults only trip, we like something more 'us'.

i defenetely agree! i really liked caribbean beach and we plan on possibly going back next year. but we love por!!! love the boat to downtown disney(especially at night). the grounds are absolutely beautiful. the staff and mousekeeping are great. food court is awesome (especialy the pasta) and i have had no issues with transportation on my past stays. there is a wonderful site all about riverside and french quarter.

I have stayed at Pop several times and really enjoy it. Its fun, clean, great food court, centrally located and the lake and proximity to AoA are all plusses!

That said, we much prefer the mods and have stayed at all of.them. Our most recent stay of 11 nights was at CBR and it was wonderful. Yes its spread out, but with a bus stop and quiet pool in each section, that helps. You can also pay for a preferred room which puts you very near the food court. I will also add that Pop is no tiny resort! Our first stay at Pop we were in the 80's section and it was not ideal. You could cut across the parking lot to get to the bus stop, but again, not ideal. After that trip, we paid for preferred at Pop!

What I like about mods is lusher landscaping, not so much in your face/plastic theming, larger rooms and bathrooms,queen beds (except cbr which still has doubles) and all but POFQ have a full serve restaurant.

Por is our favorite mod, but we love them all. Values are nice, but we only stay at them when our budget literally cannot pay for a mod!

We've never stayed at Pop (or any value), but we loved CBR. The grounds are beautiful and the bus transportation was awesome during our stay. CBR is centrally located so it didn't take more than about 10 minutes to get to any theme park, water park, or DTD. CBR is spread out as it is a big resort, but we didn't have any complaints (and neither did our 2 DSs who were 6 & 8 at the time). I can't speak for POR as we've never stayed there, but it looks like a beautiful resort and is one we would definitely consider for a mod. With that said, if I had to choose, I would definitely upgrade to a mod as the values don't appeal to us at all and we have no desire to stay there.

I would vote CBR, but I love it there and POR looks like cheap southern apartment buildings to me. No appeal at all LOL!

CBR was also the first moderate so it was built before Disney realized "no matter what we do they will come" So the "standard view" actually has greenery not full view of the parking lot LOL! Rooms are bigger too.

I say upgrade, but I haven't stayed at a value. It doesn't appeal to me.
I have friends (adults only) who stayed at POP for their first on-property trip in April and LOVED it. Different people like different things.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at CBR. Our room was in Barbados as well, and the walk didn't bother us. As a matter of fact, we were a little unnerved by how closed in AKL was during our stay there. We enjoyed being a bit away from it all at CBR. At the time we had no walking children though. It was just DH and I pushing the stroller. We usually took the bus over to the food court area if we wanted to stop there, or walked then took the bus from there. We only ate there about once a day though, so it wasn't a big deal.

Next on our list of moderates is one of the Port Orleans resorts. It's possible that if we ever get to the point that all we can afford is a value, we may stay off property for the extra space.

Having stayed at both POP and CBR, I would stay at POP and use the money for one of the many tours or upgrade my dining options. However, if you plan on spending most of your time at the resort than I would go Mod. Why spend more money for a pillow when that money could be used for more fun and enjoyment.

POP for sure. We loved POR as well but POP has great food is easy to get around (lots of buses) we waited for buses at POR constantly.
